I'm only asking out of curiosity: how is a fanfic determined to be one of the "most popular fanfics?"  Is there a counter system that lets the mods know every time a fanfic is read?  Or does the home computer count them up and keep track of them by itself?

I believe its how many times its viewed - probably by EACH IP address... I am not sure. I know its not the amount of 'faves' you have or how many comments you get on it. Because I don't get a lot of comments and a few of my fics have been in the top ten. ;D

Maybe they do it by the average amount of faves you get? I'm not sure!XD Draco's sounds plausible too.

I believe it goes by number of comments, but I could be wrong.
