I think that nobody here saw him while he was alive. That would be because he lived like eighty or so years ago. But, as for the stuffed body at the museum? Well, I haven't seen it.

he has been traded to Anchorage for about two years at a
time once or twice.... i remember when i was seven my
parents took me to come see him for the first time. i was so
excited but then we found out he was temporarily moved to
Alaska at that time *sigh* i didn't see him until i
was....12

Steve - I'm going
sometime in mid 2007. However, I'm an adult, not a kid.
And I'm sure your parents wouldn't be cool with that (unless
they were there too). Still, I wish I were going with some
friends here. I'd love to share the experience! Being an
American Civil War living historian (and being so into
history anyway), I LOVE touring around historical sites and
sharing what I have learned about those places, ahead of
time, with others! (Besides, I'm planning to take lots of digital video and still pics. And I'll be posting them in the forums when I get the chance! Even if it is almost a year away yet!)

(Incidentally, Balto's mount was never moved - not out of the museum anyway. I have never heard of any reference to this. Balto's body was committed to the museum, after his death, to be mounted and displayed there. And it has always been there.
