balto-thing
Well, I've seen the movies, and i like them alot, i even have my own website about it, but why are the movies about Balto, and not about Togo?
P.S. I don't know much about Togo but I've heard he should've gotten the fame instead of Balto.

Leonard Seppala felt the same way. sometimes i even question this myself. i guess people look at who directly delivered the medicine through a storm and now who went the furthest. to be honest, it doesn't make too much sence. but i guess we should be thankful we have both Balto and Togo to be proud of^^. |

You essentially gave balto-thing the right answer, 3DGWolf. It's because Balto's team was the one to arrive in Nome bearing the serum...and the press focused on him. And what with his post-serum run history, and his move to Cleveland (Ohio), the American press really feted him. Togo was overshadowed by all of that in the course of time. But that makes him no less a hero. And, in the eyes of dog sledders and breeders of Siberian Huskies and Seppala Siberian Sled Dogs, Togo is the real celebrity and hero. In truth, BOTH dogs did a fantastic job! Yeah, demon dog, there is such a statue, at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in Cleveland, Ohio. | I'm not a wolf. Kthxbai. |
The movie was probably about Balto rather than Togo because Balto was the one who was leading when the medicene was delivered. It would have been cool if Togo had at least made an appearence. |

It's true that Togo and his team traveled much farther than Balto ever did, but Balto was the one to pull into Nome with the serum. I guess that the one that finishes is the one who gets all the glory. Then again, BaltoSeppala probably has more information on that. He'll probably turn up answering this question any moment now... |

Balto was not "slow". He was large and somewhat "boxy" in shape, so Seppala thought he might be slow. There is no evidence to suggest that he ever was. You also have to consider that many modern-day Siberian Husky breeders (and even many dog sled mushers) hold blindly to Seppala's low opinion of Balto, without looking further into it themselves. And they are complete idiots for doing so. They carry the torch for Togo the same way Seppala did, instead of acknowledging that, in fact, BOTH dogs performed a great service during the Serum Run, and BOTH did a wonderful job. Take with a HEAVY grain of salt ANYTHING a Siberian Husky breeder tells you not only about the real Balto, but also about their belief that their modern show/conformation Siberian Huskies are the ORIGINAL Siberians. Because they are not telling you the truth about the dogs, and they are just being dumb about the original Balto. |
personality then Balto. They use Balto becaues his story is
more fun if you say it that way. They could of put Togo in
more though.
