Spirit the cat
In the movie Balto Aniu was his mother. so if Aniu was his mother then she would have named him balto. Well if she did then how would the people in Nome know his name? It's not like Balto could just say "Hi i'm Balto"

Spirit, it's a cartoon. Certain things are not spelled out
in a cartoon. It's the same in all cartoons. You'll note
that the only human who calls Balto by name is Rosy, the
little girl. It can be assumed that SHE named him, not Aniu
(at least in the cartoon history). And then, years later -
when Aniu is a spirit - she understood that his name was
Balto.
Still, the writers and production team
of the Balto cartoon movie didn't spell it out. They left
it to individual imagination. Besides, it could also be
said that when Hollywood messes with real history, vague
areas like the one you're asking about are the results.
After all, the real Balto's history is much different...and
he was named by his HUMAN OWNER (Leonhard Seppala)...not by
a little girl or an imaginary wolf.

As the others said, it is to be left to the imagination. Maybe the townspeople overheard Rosie name him, and just left it that way. (I couldn't tell why his name would be 'Balto' Bout I like it just the way it is. ) As for real life, I heard a rumor that he was named after a norwigen man in the area. But I can't tell if that's true. |

Yes that is a good thing to ask because they wouldent of known his name also maybe they just might of just guest his name and called him that or they might of just called him balto because he was a fast runner but you are right how could he of just go up and said hi my name is balto because they can not speak dog so that is a good thing to ask but that is my answer to youre question. that might not be true but that is my suggestion.( And Im sorry that I called O_ha lazy it is just that he or she hasnt done pictures for a while.) |
