I was wondering why Balto would still be on his boat in the sequels. If he was so famous after the medicene run, wouldn't Rosie and her parents have taken him , especially after Jenna and Balto have pups together? Just wondering...if this is a silly thing to ask, then just ignore this.

Well, I think that there's two possibilities. One, they could have took him in, but he would be what is known as an "outside dog", and would be free to roam. He could still live in the house with Jenna, but be able to go outside whenever he pleases. I actually think that Jenna was able to do the same (since she, Balto, and the puppies were outside playing in one of the scenes in the second movie). The second possibility could be that the family just decided not to take him in at all. Even though that's doubtful (since [I can say from my opinion] if my dog had pups with Balto, I would take him in.)

Yes, I'm talking of the animated Balto. Not the real one. I don't
think the real one lived on a boat at any time of his life. Or lived
with a goose for that matter.![]() |

Would you take in a wolfdog, even if he did have puppies with your
dog? He is a wolfdog. Dogs are more easier to take care of, and
wolfdogs aren't the "a walk a day will keep the dog away." What I mean
is.. Balto would never get used to live in a house. I am sure they
wouldn't be able to handle a wolfdog. I would never take in a wolfdog,
since I wouldn't be able to handle it. Plus, Boris will be sad. xP
Balto is just not the inside wolfdog. |

Well, I kind of agree with Kari's answer on this one. Yes, perhaps
Balto was given the opportunity to live life as a house dog (maybe
with Jenna) since he had suddenly reached "hometown hero" status, but
knowing Balto, leaving his boat home would be leaving the only true
home that he had ever known (other than his home in the wild from when
he was a pup, but he's probably forgotten it), and Boris and the bears
would be alone too (since Boris was like a "father" to Balto, and he
probably would miss Balto's help with caring for the young polar
bears). Yes, he is an outside dog, just like Kari said, but perhaps
the humans thought it was best for Balto to stay where he belongs and
not put him in a new and unfamilar world (such as a warm and cozy
house). Sad to say it, but he is part wild . . . maybe they were still
afraid that he would be able to turn on them and any moment. (I agree,
Kari; I'd take him in if he made puppies with my dog any day!) |
