Okay, this rule (-10. Advertisement - Publicity in general should not be abusive. Don't send your forum on the site, shoutbox or in the forum everytime. You can put a link in your profil, in your signature or post a topic in the " general- link " section. But don't harass the others. This is forbidden to send any pub in the forum except in the cited section.) states that advertising in public is against the rules. However, in the last couple of days I have gotten two PMs that I consider to be advertising. The first one was asking me if I wanted to join their roleplay. The second one, which I just got today, is asking me to sign a petition about SOPA...
I don't want to be bothered by this crap, shouldn't advertising in PMs be against the rules too? Because it's just as annoying there, if not more than public advertising.

Politely requesting a person to cease once usually stops them. If it
persists, contacting a mod would be the best next step. |

As far as asking if you wanna RP goes, I don't think that's really
advertising. Perhaps the members simply see that you're active a lot
and think that you like to RP. (Posting a note on your profile stating
you don't RP helps; I've seen it done in the past.) The petition for SOPA.... yeah, that's advertising. In which case, yes, I agree that that shouldn't be allowed, either in public or PMs or otherwise. It's annoying, especially if you don't agree (and sometimes even if you do). |
