Certainly we're sure. Aniu is supposed to be a gray wolf. ALL wolves in Alaska are gray wolves. As are pretty much all wolves on the North American continent (with the exception of the red wolf). Subspecies in the U.S. would be the arctic wolf (in northern Canada only, by the way Coolie...not Alaska) and the timber wolf (throughout the continental U.S. and lower Canada...and into Alaska).

@ Hecate - actually, arctic wolves are not small at all. They are a very large animal, generally exceeding 100 pounds in weight.

And, to go with consuela, the artics wolves are really small. Aniu/the white wolf is bigger than Balto on the first movie and have the same size in the seconde. Then, to me Aniu is a grey wolf with white fur, this is possible

No one's really sure, none of the officials clarified what breed she was.
I don't believe she is an Arctic wolf. Universal exaggerated Balto's wolflike appearance, and I don't believe she is an Arctic wolf. If he was, the animators would've made him white like she was. In case you haven't noticed, the animators haven't ever put much thought into character designs or breed specifics. . Gray wolves/Timber wolves can come in white as well, just google them.
So, therefore, I believe Aniu is a Gray wolf. C:

Aniu is a Artic wolf. Her fur and color looks like that of an actual artic wolf.

I think Aniu is an Arctic wolf because of her plush fur. So far from wht I've seen, Arctic wolves usually have plush fur like Aniu's.
