Steeles official age was not given in the movie, but based on the musher saying Steele was losing his touch and it looked like he could be beaten by any dog, three years may be a minimum age, a sled dog might live 14 years so who knows, he could be seven for all we know, I just know that once the dog get's old he gets retired and the mushers statements suggest Steele is nearing retirement and so do his wrinkles .

Judging by his size and behavior towards smaller dogs, he's definitely older than Balto and Jenna. But he definitely younger than Doc. The creators never gave him a real age, so his age will most likely never be official. Only fans can decide. In my fics, I list him as being 3 (26 in dog years).
