Ripping Balto Movies

Ok, I know this has been asked a lot, but I can't find the right answer. So here is my problem, I downloaded the trial for Magic DVD Ripper and I attempted to rip Balto. I ripped it successfully but when I try to put it on Windows Live Movie Maker, it says it can't support that file. So can somebody please explain to me on what I should do?

you need to convert it to .avi or .wmv

depending what format the film is, dont think it would work on windows movie maker
