Okay, i have a Windows XP. A few weeks ago, I bought a headset for it, and it had a mic attached. The phones work great, but the mic won't work. Now, I'm completely computer savvy, and I tried everything I could to fix it. I bumped up the volume, and tried three different programs, but none of them worked. I even plugged in a different mic, and it didn't work. I'm convinced my computer just doesn't recognize it, or doesn't have a sound card that supports a mic. Comments on this, and suggestions on how to make it work?

Hm. Perhaps it's just not got the proper driver. I remember when I
first had mine I didn't have the right driver... download the Realtek
AC97 sound driver here and try it. http://www.realtek.com.tw/Down [...] n=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false Then follow the configuration instructions here and that might help. http://www.troublefixers.com/m [...] or-mic-not-working-in-windows/ Let me know if this still does not work. |

It's not a USB, just a regular plug-it-in-the-right-phone-jack. I did.
Doesn't work. Like I said, I'm thinking it's the card. |

Even if this isn't really a Balto or site related question, I'll do my
best to answer this. Be sure, if it's one with two things to plug in (jacks), that the headphone jack is plugged into the green slot, and that the microphone jack is plugged into the pink slot. Sometimes the jacks are color-coded so you know where to plug them in. If this does not work, try plugging them in into the slots at the back of your computer instead of using a front slot. Often this works for me. If it's a USB headphone set, try plugging it in at the back. If this still does not work, you may need to update your drivers. |
