Balto

Balto is a feature-length film, produced by the Amblimation studios from Steven Spielberg, known for several other animated films such as "An American Tail", "Fievel Goes West" or "Land Before Time".

Released in 1995 in the USA, and mid-1996 in Europe, the movie didn't attract the crowd and didn't encounter the deserved success. That's the reason it is not much known compared to Disney or even Dreamworks movies, and yet...

Based on real facts, this cartoon relate the story of Balto, a brave sled dog, who brought back an antidiphtheria serum in order to save children, in Alaska (1925).

Many famous people have taken part in it, starting with Spielberg of course, as an executive producer (besides, we can even see a wink to "ET" in Balto), Simon Wells as the director/producer, and James Horner as the soundtrack composer (" Titanic ", " Braveheart ", " Alien "...and all the other Amblimation movies)

Nowadays, Amblimation has disappeared, in fact just after the release of this film, and the studios had been retaken with the help of an old Disney director for the conception of another animated movie, "The Prince of Egypt". And so was born Dreamworks...

First time I saw it was in 3rd grade too! This is honestly one of the best animated films EVER! It's honestly criminal that this movie is so underrated

The first time I seen Balto was in 3rd grade, when the class was learning about the Iditarod. I fell in love with it and started renting the VHS tapes from the local library for several years after that. Now being a high school senior, its still my all time favorite movie. I Just picked up all 3 movies on DVD for $6. Couldn't be happier. Thank you Balto Source for being here!!! Glad to see people still love Balto. Then again, who wouldn't. :BaltoUSAFlag:

i have always love the whole balto series since i was about 1 or 2, since balto 3 came out close to when i was born. i watch it all the time when i was young but when i got into a ATV accident i had a major concussion and forgot almost everything. when i saw balto on Netflix a few months ago i thought i should check this out and i was hooked right away on it. i saw this one part in the 1995 version the seamed a little familiar and i couldn't figure out why, so i told my mom and she said that i used to watch it all time when i was young. since i watch balto on Netflix i looked on eBay for some stuff and now i have a balto standing plush and the 1995 balto. im going to get balto 3 and some poster here very soon. :icon374:

I love the Balto movies, but the first movie is more better than his sequels, this is of better quality and design characters, is obviously, but still, Balto despite the changes, still the best in his sequels

But the character I miss in the two sequel movies of Balto it is to Kaltag, I love this character although at the principle is wrong with Balto, what I like about of him is that after he becomes good with Balto and begins to respect him which is admirable on Kaltag, Nikki, Star and the sled dogs. I love Kaltag

and Balto.

I love Balto so much! It will always be one of my favorite childhood movies. I only wish that Balto would have gotten more recognition when it first came out in 1995. I remember begging my mother to take me to see it in the theater. I never did see it in theaters however, when it came out on video, I watched it everyday. To this day, I still enjoy it

This is and always will be my favorite movie of all time. It's been my favorite movie since I was 9 almost 10. But that was exactly 5 years ago. I'll tell you how I fell in love with this movie. It was near the end of the school year. Then I was in intermediate school. I'd watched the movie at school and it became my favorite movie of all time and still is. I watch this movie every week.
