More and more rules! Constricting us even further. The sites becoming rubbish

Blakavr, considering there has been an incident in the past where rules were set in place that steet did not approve of (which where then removed), I wouldn't fault Mighty for curiosity. Rules do matter for all members, I don't know why you asked that kinda question

Sweet Fur: I apologize. I did not mean for it to be offensive or to hurt anyone's feelings, but it's not like anyone's really going to write a fic about some silly toy or a twig that was only in frame for 5 seconds. It's a pointless and unnecessary character, official or fan-made.

WolfLover: While that is true, I just think that the approval of such idiocy is pointless. I've read the comments about them too, and I really don't care for them. They don't talk and they honestly aren't important [though I may be in an argument about the darn twig, but I don't give a hoot about it].

As for the information in bios.... Yes, they were more informative than , but were they necessary to be made? No, not at all. It was stupid and a waste of space that was made to prove that any stupid thing could be approved as a character on this site that had rule and mod issues all about it. Shoot, I'd better not see a page go up for some other bull-crap objects - like the "Welcome to Nenana" sign, the train carrying the medicine, or Rosie's mittens from the early movie concept - anytime in the future, okay? The site's gone through enough bull the past couple of years, and we'd do best to not add any more.

Again, I apologize if my comments were too harsh for you to handle, but for a BALTO site, characters are best to be related to the main or minor characters in some way and that's it. And the same goes to other Source sites too.

I'm not sorry to see the back of them, to be honest, I couldn't care less whether or not Steet has approved this rule (although him actually contributing to BS and what its members want would be a nice change) and I am happy that I won't have to worry about whether or not I'll be suffering from temporary blindness when I glance at the character page.

Juuchan17- Slightly harsh there on that one. They had better stories than most of the 20 minute making wolf character (censored) that goes on here. And, no, most newbies DIDN'T learn from the characters getting deactivated, which was pretty obvious as more appeared. At one point if I remember, pretty much anything was allowed here on Balto Source (If I remember rightly, I wonder if Cat's crazy creations are still up here.?) If people didn't see this coming, then surely they were not paying much attention, the character rules have gotten stricter since the last month, and I think people assumed that it could well be leading up to this. The mods decided this because the newbies don't listen (most anyway, apart from those who have second thoughts and think), and ignore the deactivation of their characters, whether reasons were provided or not.

I am not trying to be offensive towards you, but trying to point out various reasons on why things were done about the whole sparkle thing. It needed to stop and now it has. Just thought I was allowed to put my point back in there.

Overall-----And, I do agree with what Mighty said about Steet not being here for a long while now, proof would be better to have, but I can't see us getting that now, and I also don't see why Steet would care much, to be truthful. It's simply why, many have had enough of them now, and mods have had enough of older members complaining about them. That is why actions have been taken.

Juuchan, Well now that just hurt. It may have been a twig, but at least it had more of a story then what some people put up in their bio's. Oh well. Good luck with straightening out the character section.

Mods haven't really discussed it yet, but I am sure we can get those straightened out as well.

Steet did respond to my PM, everything up there was approved by him. Just because he doesn't respond to your PMs doesn't mean he didn't manage to respond to ours.
And this does pertain to all sources, but notice I mentioned sparkle characters are unnatural colors you would not find on the regular animal, obviously you can always find blue, green, red, ect on a parrot c:
I haven't seen ADGH in awhile, but I suppose you can use the colors used in the movies, but refrain from using neon colors or going overboard.

My question, to you mighty is, why does it matter to you? Are you a mod? Didn't think so. Don't patronize us for when we're doing our jobs. You wanted sparkles gone, now when we get rid of them you QUESTION IT? No more out of you or I'll send a warning.

I remember seeing the message. I just don't remember if it was in the MB or forum, or a screenshot. Though I do remember seeing it myself, if that makes any difference to any of you. I wouldn't forget because of how shocked I was Lol

Also what UK said is right. Because we can't edit pages, and Steet is too lazy to add a simple new page before the character submission one, there is no other way to post rules other than news, the forums or just by commenting. We're really limited because of that.

I'm kinda with mighty on this one. I also find it hard to believe that steet actually did something about this, ONLY because of how absent he's been the past year or two. It's not that I don't agree with these rules, I do completely. AND it's not that I don't trust the mods. It's steet that I'm just a little shaky about. But since you all are pretty much saying that steet gave the okay...Well, this rule needed to be added anyway.

...I don't understand why this has to be mentioned again and again. If it's just the newbies that don't get this rule by now [the oldies and veteran members should have been known these by now!], then why not just disactivate the character(s) and tell them why? Or at least tell them that their "sparkle-whatever character" would be better placed in DeviantArt or something.

And I wonder if this means that you're [or the mods, I should say] going to start cracking on the rise of the fursonas soon enough too? I know some of them are unnatural-looking too.

And also, the basic character tutorial.... is long overdue. I thought most characters were already like this [especially the featured and more popular ones of recent], but heck, I've seen worse (censored) for characters [remember the joke characters of the cat toy and the twig from the first movie? (censored) and pointless.].

I'm only asking because Steet is never around anymore, he doesn't respond to PMs or E-mails. I am in my right to believe that he didn't okay this rule change. I am not against it myself, but I am against the idea of mods passing rules whenever they feel like it.

All I am asking for is solid proof, but it seems that you refuse to show me that, which indicates to me you have none.

He did approve this one, mighty. He told us if the majority of mods agree with it then we can make it official and post a fan news about it.

There have been loads of these kinds of things floating about SS, or people thinking they're allowed.

Mighty - This has actually been a rule for ages, but mods can't edit the rules pages for submissions so some of them weren't updated.
On the character creation page for SS it's had this as a rule for almost a year or something now.

Thanks a great deal for writing this, Moss! Hopefully now younger members understand what is allowed, and what is not. Like others, I agree with these rules for definite. Nice job, Moss.

We don't need to show you proof Mighty. Our word should be more than enough. You're NOT a mod, so stop acting like one.

moss could you add in the rule about not making other characters into horses/wolfs/lions ect? from other shows there was a news post but even i find it hard to find

(( The journal text is flying away)) I agree with these rules. Maybe now it'll force others to make a bio for the character and it will prevent kids from posting hideously neon colored animals. Jenna's fur color is one thing, but we all know it was bright red to keep kids interested in that character. Most of us know that red dogs are actually copper not a bright red like jenna's is. I think it the colors are like jenna's and dixie's I guess it's fine because it's still a mild color. Maybe I'm not fully understanding the rules so this comment might not make a lick of sense.

Steet approved this one, Mighty. And it's one ALL the mods agree with.

Not sure how I feel about rules Steet didn't approve of, but I do agree with this one.

RS will not count simply because parrots are SUPPOSE to be colorful. It hides their outline in the wild and protects them from predators.

BUT, I still see an ugly rendered character or two that simply doesn't belong.

I think this is mainly for Balto Source. I think ADGTHS and RS are fine.
