Oh oh. Looks like something that will surely interest the Balto community.
It's kinda strange : I thought I knew about all the upcoming animated films for the next two years, and a completly unknown one pops out of nowhere and is set to be released in september of THIS year...
This is a CGI feature film, in which the main characters are wolves. I guess the best to do is to show you the trailer :
I'm not sure how to consider it yet.
From one side, it's nice to finally see an animated film in which wolves are the important characters. (The Balto films are a mix between dogs and wolves)
On the other side, there's an awful feeling of "déjà vu" to it...What bothers me the most is the "stupid" humor. It could easily be mistaken as a new Madagascar or Open Season. This kind of characters has been seen in almost all CGI films in the 2000's. Why can't they do something *serious* for a change? I hate it when the characters are always acting "funny" even when they are in dangerous situations. And that music...gosh, I really hope that's not part of the film soundtrack.
I'm not even mentioning the obvious similarities with the Balto films - then again, there aren't so many situations or animals you can include in a story related to wolves.
As for the animation side, I'm definitely not a fan of the characters styles (which convinces me how much I WOULDN'T want to see the Balto characters recreated in CGI...), though the animation is not that bad considering it's (probably)
a low budget film produced outside of the USA (India). It will be interesting to see how it performs at the box office, but considering the insanely HUGE number of CGI animated films to be released this year, I really don't understand why they didn't try to at least make it STAND OUT from this crowdy market.
For now, I'm more looking forward to the Wolf animated film project, which may take years before release or may never see the light, but at least looks much more convincing.
NB : this will be the last film in which the actor Dennis Hopper will be credited (voice), as he passed away a few days ago. RIP...
NB2 : We're talking about it on the forums : Alpha and Omega

Being a huge fan of animation, I am always on the lookout for new blood. For this new feature in particular, I would not mind watching it just to find out how it goes; even if it may not seem that great in the end. It looks quite funny with some good 3D animation and to me it seems worth a watch once.
I understand if some people say that it will be completely lame and that it is just plain fun animation for children; and don't get me wrong, it is normal for a lot of animated features; I get it. But that is just the thing nowadays, right? Animated features are made to entertain the family, not just the kids; and quite frankly I don't think that it matters whether they are rated high or not. If the kids and family find it good and fun, that is all that matters.
That is beside the point. The point is that I will go and see this when it comes out; and I will make my judgement from there. It may seem quite fun to me from viewing the preview; but we shall see.
Thanks for sending that to us, mate.
Otherwise, it doesn't look like it's worth my time.

Ya, I find it kinda stupid that people think it's acctaully FUNNY when a wolf has to go and say somthing funny. Its like in every single sceene an animated film has to go and do that to you. There's geese in the movie..like Balto. And a bear attack. Like Balto.
Anyways, I'd think I'd..maybe like to watch it.

The humour doesn't look very clever or funny, I hate how they've given the wolves hair just to make them seem, in Kate's case, more attractive.
But when all's said and done, at least its an animated wolf movie.
This actually looks like my sort of CGI movie.
I mean apart from the annoying guy's voice commentating over the trailer, he kinda ruins it but hey, you always get him doing his stupid voice over "comedy kid movies."
Generally it looks nice and by the way things are, it seems to be quite a nice movie overall
