I see, the Problem is that there are sometimes about 4 mods Online (daytime), what is... very much. And sometimes no one (Nighttime). So we need still a mod who supervises the American Nightime. ca. 04am - 10am. Sure, that you have something to do in RL, so you can´t be there 24h, but 30min after i leaved this night, the next spammer was using his chance...

There doesn't need to be a mod on for every second of the day for every part of the site though...I think it is already over crowded now with mods as it is.

hmm... I agree with Dan but if we do that it shouldn't be a lot. We don't want to over-crowd the place with mods but we need enough to help watch over places like when there's only one person on.

I think there aren´t too many, sometimes i´m the only one at night (European time: 00:00am - 10:00am), who´s watching the Shoutbox. So maybe it should be even more... like saltash said, this timezone thing...

Taking a lot of mods is not incompatible with taking good mods, I don't see why you're saying this. I've not chosen the new mods by random, I've "studied" at least as much as when I took the previous current mods. And no, having different point of vue is a good thing to me, because first : people won't check the same boards (I know that I never enter the RPG board for example), and second, it will be more objective to have mods who have different opinions to represent the visitors in a better way.

In fact this is the main problem to me Steet: we don't have the same point of view; I'm a mod and you're the admin. But as I said before, is it better to have lots of mods or to have good mods? Because seems like you chose the first option, and I believe that the second is the best for a site. For the comments, my job is to check them, not to avoid fights between members (in fact I can't ban myself), and I believe I can check almost all the comments. If you wanted me to avoid fights, you could simply tell me and I'd do it. Of course, if the members PMed me to report the problems it'd be much easier... I check all the comments 4 times a day now, I guess this is enough.

I believe that 3-5 shout box mods is enough, 8 I believe is too many.

Togo -> The more mods there will be, the best it will be. I don't see how having a lot of mods could really become a problem. And, sorry to say this but no, you alone can't moderate all the comments on the site, proof is that many problems have been left unseen. It's just impossible for only one person. Besides, we do not all have the same visions of things...

Or better, not adding at all, how many out of these 8 mods will still visit BS in 6 months? Less than 4, I believe. And another intresting thing to do is check how long time ago the new mods registered on the site. If you've been visiting BS since it's beginning, you'll understand.

Togo- I see the point your making here. Once Steet makes everyone on the forum a moderator, then he is stuck with the newbies which ruin the site. I think fewer moderators would be better adding a few more here and there but not adding them all together.

I agree with you that the more mods there are, the better the site is moderated is, but is it necessary that BS is as controlled as a prison? This is what happens here, there are always mods everywhere like in a prison. I know that this is a site for younger people, but believe me that in the italian forum I talked about in my first message is a videogames forum, and there are young people too (and believe me, Italians are much harder to control ). We're at the point that ANY older member (apart from BnW and doby, but I'm sure they'll be mod soon) is a mod somewhere; and when they're all mods? Steet can only choose the newbies to be mod, which is already happening (I won't say any name). Quality, not quantity.

You love to make a strong point, Togo. I can see that you don't agree with this strongly, and I can see your reasons for thinking so. But personally, I think that more mods will help the site stay under control. A large site like this one and one with so many members (most of them being younger and not knowing any better, since this is a site for younger children) may need a few more mods to help keep it running smoothly. I think this is just a one-time sort of thing. We may or may not have fewer mods in the future, depending on whether this issue is solved or not. If it gets better, we might need to go back to having fewer mods. If it gets worse, which I highly doubt, we may actually need more than we already have.

I'm glad to see that we agree on some points.
But the main problem is still the same: there are too many mods for a site like this. Do you want an exemple? I check by myself all the comments on the site (both BS and TLKS, since all the other mods has left. I know, I'm often online, but if I can check all (or almost) the comments of two sites, are 8 mods on a shout box so important, considering that there's the banning system? Wouldn't it better to ban the annoying member with that system and PM a mod to make it ban? As I said before, the shout box doesn't need that a mod is always on. And I'm talking about the shout box, but I can say the same thing for a lot of parts of this site.

I see your point Togo. I know that a lot of people are asking to be mods, but it is a rule that you can't ask. That eliminates them from the list. But, I do have to agree with you on one thing. Some of the older mods aren't showing up anymore, so maybe it would be best to de-mod them. Concerning the voting to ban topic, I still think it should be there. Even though there are more mods on the shout box now, they can't be online all the time. In case there IS a problem on the shout boxes and a mod doesn't see it, the voting is always there. It's more like a "just in case" sort of thing.

You mean that there must always be at lest one mod for each part of the site (forum, SB, comments, fanarts etc.)? This would mean to make all the older members moderators, and I don't think this would be a good idea. Steet made the ban thing on the shout box to avoid problems when there isn't any mod on, but making so many mods this option loses its meaning. And I think you've seen it too, everybody now ask "can i b mod plz id be a good mod"... This is something that I don't like to see.
And it would be a good idea to de-mod who doesn't visit the site or doesn't do its job and, believe me, there are many; just to make it less confusing.

Togo -> Considering what's been happening these days, I think we're doing pretty good with the amount of mods. Some of the mods weren't always on, and that's understandable. With more mods, there should be less problems.
