Wolf Whisperer - as Mighty said, NO, he's not. No more than Mighty is a moderator for LATTS or the forum anymore. That group/pack thing is out of whack, it is turned off, and no one on staff (or the webmaster) wants to fix it apparently. If you have nothing of consequence to offer besides a ringing endorsement of one member and an encouragement that I should go out of my own way to be "nice" to him when I see nothing yet that would make me want to, then please don't throw down. I haven't spoken ill of him at all. I have only urged him not to chastise people for having a valid discussion which has, for better or worse, risen out of the original one. And no chastising is going to stop it. Nor should it. Because it is a valid and sensible discussion. And it's about time we all broached these questions AGAIN. Maybe this time they'll actually get solved. Or start down the path of being solved.

Truthfully, there should be two sites. One for sparkle animals, and another for characters that have no bloodline connection to any of the universes. Frankly, I am tired of the character chaos that goes around. Makes me wanna organize and set everything - as far as characters are concerned - right.

Anyway, as an attempt to bring back the topic, I'm just gonna say that it's fine to have characters that are unrelated to the movies, sure, but they have to keep the same theme going here. Sled dogs, Alaska (or Greenland or Canada even), wolves, forests, spirits, small towns, 1920's-30's. If your character doesn't have any of this in their little universe, then it doesn't belong here. And I mean none of these. For example, If your characters don't have spirits but have Alaska and 1920's, youre fine.

I think an idea that would make everyone happy is just to put all this other fan stuff in the Hub. Maybe make an actual source out of it, with a character page, fan art, fanfics, just like any other source. But this time people can do whatever they want. Complete creative freedom! (I mean, of course there can't be violence, blood X-rated content etc.) But maybe it will get this characters thing (and maybe the sparkledogs thing) off our backs. If this is what everyone was talking about before, then I think it's a great idea!

You all do realize, don't you, that one of the MAJOR issues with MLP fandom is the fact that there was a major fight between the members of "4Chan" (the infamous trolling/hacking site) and "Encyclopedia Dramatica" (more or less ditto) over one side loving to troll the heck out of MLP fans, and the other side BEING rabid MLP fans of the worst sort (who love to abuse and troll anyone who either abuses and trolls MLP fans, or who simply says they don't like or understand it, and don't want to be bothered about it)? Right? No? Then you may not be aware of the potential problem this site could face once MLP Source becomes active. Because MLP fandom is hardly confined to "kids" or teens. No...there's a lot of weird adult male fanboys too. And a lot of them are trolls (well, a lot of the teens are too, but...)

Sure...you might say that the mods can deal with that. Or steet can. Hm. Anyone care to review the way that trolls have been "dealt with" here over the last two years? Really?

I myself don't really like MLP, but it's more of the fact that it isn't my cup of tea. I prefer realistic animals or mythological creatures in shows if it doesn't have "humans" in it. Don't get me wrong; I like some "sparkle" things, but MLP is not one of them.

At the same time though, I'm not critical and ugly to those who like it. I just ignore most of the conversations on it. The fans are still people and because of that I'm still just as friendly and open towards them.

I enjoy MLP myself, but I don't go to the extent to where I'm making an annoyance out of myself by forcing people to like the show. If they don't like the show, I respect that.

In the aspect of shows I understand how something that people like is fine. (I personally am a huge Legend of Korra fan yet I'm not overly obsessed and forcing it on anyone.) Yet there are fans who go WAY overboard as it is with anything...

I continue to stay here, waiting for the sun to come with a thread of hope that someday it will get better, but I've already started acting on this in my own way in case that never comes. (Is it just me, or do most of the true fans seem to be the ones who hang around no matter what?...)

Got nothing against the show. The show is the show. It's the fans I have a big problem with. And from what I have witnessed on here, I'm far from alone. In fact, this has become one of the most polarizing things since...well, since another issue that occurred on here in the old days that I dare not mention. And you watch...once this alleged MLP Source gets activated, not only will it bring an influx of all the very weirdest and extreme of MLP fans, but it will also bring a plethora of new trolls who will have a field day with this place (as they have before).

All because some few want a source for that blasted little cartoon.

As to everything else you said, well, I wish you luck with that viewpoint. I respect it...because I was one of the ones who used to have it. But after so many disappointments and failed expectations, now I am really just coasting along and watching it come what may...like most who still hold out in spite of what common sense tells them. Lol

Btw Zodon: I agree with you on the MLP thing, we Bronies are quite unique! And do not fear me taking offense, I DO NOT offend easily, ask any of my friends. And yes, though some Bronies are pesters(I've never been targeting by one, but maybe that's because I am one) we all aren't. Most of us are actually "closet Bronies," and I was until I realized that one of my friends at my co-op class's was a Brony, so I'm a little more outspoken about it now. You have to try to understand, there is something special about MLP: FiM, maybe it's the quality if the show, maybe it's the characters, maybe it's the positively adorable animantion, maybe it's the fact that MLP is a legend, maybe it's Lauren Fost, but the show is almost intoxicating, and easily obsessive. Most young fans, like young fans of any show, can get quite defensive and go a bit overboard when it comes to this said obsession. So, while I am a Brony(and will defend MLP to either of our graves) I learned long ago that getting all defensive and extremely over worked over any type of entertainment is pointless, and looses you more friends(and respect) than it wins you. And also keep in mind, it's a children show, and most children are bound to act like that when drawn in by the Ponies. You can't resist the ponies....

Lol Mighty! And you were right, you do have this under control, and there is no argument forming, just some stress that has being waiting long enough to be released is being so, thankfully in a respectful, intelligent way.

Zodon: Once again, you have summed everything up nicely, and there isn't much more that needs to be said, though I will add this: if people are sick of the downhill spiral that the site is on, they should do something about it. As for me, and Animal as well, we have gone through all of our creations(fan arts, characters, etc.) and deleted a very large portion that was not fan based. On my part, it was difficult, but if you really love a character enough to keep him or her around, you should be willing to make changes, and that goes for images as well. I'm pretty sure you don't know this, but I was(if I may) very good at renders, and enjoyed making them, and I gained most of my followers that way, but lost almost all when I stopped doing renders. (This applies mostly to my original BS gallery, though it's in the middle of happening again on my SS one as well.) That wasn't fun and I still don't appreciate it, but I think that it's worth it, because I no longer want to ccontribute to the very thing I'm complaining against. Now, please keep in mind, on my SS gallery I am still doing renders, but I am MUCH more particular about who uses them for what and such. I am also doing what I can to "convert" and seek out other Purists. ALL PURISTS UNITE!
And I fervently second every single point you made regarding the moderators, (even if I knew one before she was a mod, and she's still a super sweet, super dependable girl, even if I haven't heard from her in awhile.

But the situation has started to get out of hand with the way bronies are trying to pester people into liking the show even after they repeatedly say they don't want to or don't have any interest. MLP fans are practically unique in that respect. And it's not a good thing.

Lady_Aniu -- very well said! And I am with you on that. Problem is, no matter how often there is a ray of hope (like the recent purging of a lot of garbage by the webmaster out of pent-up frustrations among the membership and himself, and incessant drama), it just never fails that, after a brief period of stability and good activity (and good management), things go tumbling right back down into the garbage heap. "Garbage in, garbage out". Shame, really. This site could fly again. It really could. But not only does there need to be more proactive administration of the real glitches and other technical issues of the site (the problem there being that steet has made it clear that he will trust no one else with that job, so it remains largely undone or in limbo), but there needs to be better and more intelligent selection of staff members. And consistency in rules enforcement.

And, as Animal, Mighty and others have said, we need to take this darned site BACK from the character freaks. To mention nothing of the sparkle animal freaks, the zealous wolfaboos, this disturbing and very zealous MLP fan thing (these are the most pushy and discourteous fans of anything that I have ever seen), etc.

I'm not looking for a fight here. And I don't mean to steer the thread generally in that direction. Though it will probably end up going back that way because of a few of the things I pointed out (especially staffing and the MLP thing). But those, and the other things I mentioned, are the current problems we have.

Oak, calm down, please, no one was being rude towards you. I was nice about it, and so was Lady. I realize you was only trying to help, but there really wasn't an argument happening here, I was just preventing anything from happening since it was getting a little tense; I had it under control.
