I did some research a bit on some of the questions that often remained unanswered from the film. Logging on to IMDB I was able to discover interestingly enough that some answers were provided and not in the fourms section:
For instance a lot of views often wonder
Who the blue dog is behind Jenna in the racing scene. IMDB Provides the answer below:
When Jenna, Sylvie, and Dixie are walking in the street, a Balto look-alike can be seen behind them being pulled by its owner. This dog is Balto's old design.
What does Aniu mean?
Aniu is the inuit word for snow
What kind of dogs are Star, Nikki and Kaltag?
- Kaltag's character design is based on a Chinook.
- Nikki is a chow-chow.
- Star is an Alaskan Klee Kai.
What Kind of Dog Is Steele?
Steele is a Siberian Husky.

without knowing that. Oh, well.
I am impressed that IMDb
includes the breeds within the movie's trivia; you can actually trust
the info on that site, so at last we know what the filmmakers
intended! Yay! I have no qualms with any of those; they're what I've
thought all along. ^_^ Although, didn't somebody cite some time ago a
statement from a filmmaker saying that they had based Steele's design
on the Malamute? Perhaps that was not actually true. Or perhaps, even
more likely, different filmmakers looked at or thought of different dogs...which
might be why it was never quite clear which one he was...for I still
think, shaggy, that you could regard him as a Malamute in your stories (despite his
blue eyes) without being necessarily *wrong.* It's just that Husky is
the best, and apparently also official, thing to say. =] Finally,
settled! Thanks, IMDb.
The other facts are very
interesting, too. Excellent find, webmaster, I can't believe I'd never read the trivia there...or did I? I can't imagine that I didn't, and yet, if I had, surely I'd have shared that link with y'all. Hmm. Oh well! xD
hes a mal..
certainly been to the IMDB page for the movie, and probably not
clicked on the trivia page. Those do answer a lot of questions about
the various characters, and still leave others unanswered (for those
who do care about such things, I suppose ).
Too bad
that the folks at Universal and Amblimation didn't do their research a
bit better concerning Star. As noted on page 173 of Bowtie
Publications' book The Original Dog Bible,
"The Alaskan
klee-klai was developed as a companion dog during the 1970s through
crosses of Alaskan husky, Siberian husky, American Eskimo, and
schipperke breeds."
As we know, the Nome serum run took place in 1925. Yes yes..."it's just a movie".
However, sweating the small details sometimes leads to bigger returns
on an investment in Hollywood.
Interestingly, regarding
Aniu's name, I saw a question raised recently about its origins, and
did a little research on it. Two websites came up which have, in
addition to lots of unrelated information, listings for the definition
(and a few translations of it). If anyone is interested, here are
those sites:

big of an argument; cause too much article spam. But interesting
facts! Who would have known Nikki is a Chow?
olf {AB}
the film sources like that so I assume it came from Universal hence
why it is probably correct. While in real life your facts are probably
true but it's only a film and they may have modified his design to
look a little goofy and off.
an
Alaskan Klee Kai, because Alaskan Klee Kais are small
dogs,
not big
enough to pull a dog sled or be part of a
team. Star is
more of an
Alaskan Husky (Husky mix, usually
mixed with a type
of hound). Star is much to big to be an
Alaskan Klee Klai.
Here's a picture of some full grown
Alaskan Klee Klais : http://www.arba.org/images/Alaskan_Klee-Kai.jpg As you can see
from the last picture, the Alaskan Klee Klais aren't even up to the
guy's knee.
he was a husky, because malamutes *NEVER* have blue eyes.

arguements. (Especially the Steele arguement... >.>) Once again, thank
you. XD This is extremely helpful. ^^
