getting confirmation of the end of LBT, but instead her representative
answered me, and confirmed the same thing. I think everyone should read
this, as this is very interesting :
Looks like the staff at Universal Cartoons Studios has changed pretty much - since the arrival of Glenn Ross, I suppose. And it seems they made everything possible to get rid of LBT...
It wouldn't surprise me if they did the same for Balto. After all, the staff has changed just before the Balto 3 release, so they probably didn't market it correctly on purpose, so that they could say "look, it didn't sell well" as an excuse to get rid of it. Maybe them telling us that the sales of Balto 3 weren't enough wasn't the true reason for stopping it, after all...
Yes,
for a long time the new regime tried to kill the series, they did
everything possible, released new ones in mid January instead of
Christmas, (the videos) so they could say they were not selling as
well, changed the series airing time on cartoon network several times
so the poor little kids had to keep looking for it or lose interest.
The first air time was for little toddlers and no weekends for older
kids who would be very interested. Only true and rabid fans cared. The
old true producing staff for these shows (LBT, Balto) were wonderful
people professionally and personally. The new people that take over in
this kind of case just want to dump all the old shows and put on edgier
stuff, so it has their signature, and they want to pay the actors very
little, and hope to pay them no residuals from sales as well. It is
this same callousness and greed that has us in the current writers
strike. It is sad.
Will let you know if we can find out anything. Anything is possible. If the "glorious" minds of the current crop of people in power think they can make a personal fortune by re starting or re-releasing something, they will.
Yes I am a bit cynical if you can't tell. I have heard and seen too much. I liked the simple days when there were really good people at Universal Animation. Now it seems all about them keeping money for themselves however they can. Even if Balto and LBT had more fans than any other shows they would not want to keep their finger on the pulse of what people want. They want to DRIVE people and steer them into wanting whatever it is the animation companies want to push.

wouldn't sell Balto for what he's worth if they're that
desprete to get rid of him, plus even if we can't do it, we
could send a the price, and probably a list of names, to
someone who cares about what the fans want to see and could
afford it, like Disney or Nick. In fact I'm going to go post
on Nick's message board about this right now!

kind of meaning togather maybe we could raise the money,
there are quite a few of us. We could all run out and buy
Balto 3 if that their excuse not to make anymore.

Honestly, I really don't know what we could
do, except waiting that the staff change again with
(hopefully) less people focused only on the money side of
it.

enough Balto fans on this site to easily make enough to buy
the rights, or take them by force if nessicery, then we
could make a movie that kicks the crud out of anything

But
yeah, now that I think about it, Universal's trying to dump
Balto would explain their unwillingness to, you know, listen
to the fans.
And heck yeah, we should buy the rights
to Balto. If these people care as little as it seems they'll
be glad to make the money off the transaction. ("Hey look,
we dropped Balto AND made money! Sweet!")

old the day after you showed it. D

most if not all respect towards the people at Universal.

I'd bet Balto and LBT would be in much better hands if
Universal Studios gave them to Disney or Dreamworks.
universal now are becoming more greedy. So LBT AND Balto are
gone. What's next? I feel sorry for the actors working with
them.

we could try to raise enough money to buy the rights to
Balto ourselves, would take awhile but it'd be worth it to
save our favorite heroic wolfdog!
make a WELL DONE Balto movie with better advertisment and
they could get money but Balto would probably be better off
with Disney or Dreamworks.
