Balto 3 Official release date in the USA!

Written by steet :

Finally, there's a release date for the USA (which is probably what most of you were waiting for). Balto 3 : Wings of Change will be released on February 1st, 2005, probably in all the America. And the information comes directly from the Universal.com website : click here. By the way, I'm still waiting for receiving it in my mail, so stay tuned on the site for more information!
EDIT : Thanks to Paka, we now know what the USA (region 1) cover will look like : exactly the same as all the other countries! (that's a premiere!) Click here to view the R1 cover.

Hey, I'm in the news! Go me! LOL... And D - don't worry about a Canadian DVD release - "Region 1" in DVD-talk means the U.S. and Canada. They're the only 2 countries that can play Region 1-encoded discs (on a non-multiregional player, that is... ~_^) So Balto III's coming to Canada on February 1st, as well! ^_^ (Though I wonder if Cartoon Network will premiere the movie on their "Cartoon Theatre" show, like they did with Wolf Quest?)

Yes! It's about time they gave some word of the US release. ;) Thanks again, Steet, and Paka! Hmm, funny, there are several slight differences between the US cover and the German one, which I have in front of me to compare. The biggest difference is the logo; for some reason, the European covers that I've seen leave off the roman numerals (probably to match Wolf Quest, but that still leaves the question of why they left off the number on WQ in the first place). As far as I know, the only cover aside from the US one that includes the number III in the title is the Italian version, which is in all other areas the most drastically different cover of the bunch, most notably in its portrayal of Kodi as being a sort of tawny color with green eyes and completely different markings. :) The Italian cover also completely lacks snow, but turns the mountains in the distance into a glacier in the near-background. But I'm straying again...anyway, most of the differences between the German and the US covers are difficult to notice if you're not looking for them; the rocks, trees and mountains are more detailed on the US cover. Another, somewhat more obvious, change is that Kodi (as well as Balto) is more vibrant here, though he actually looks closer to the German cover in the movie. The shadows on Balto and Kodi are not as dark on the US cover, which works somewhat better in this case, but is still sort of odd to me since I'm used to the darker version. The one change I really don't like, however, is in the clouds. They're all misty and shapeless, and rather resemble my own pathetic attempts in Photoshop. :P I like the clouds better on the German cover. They tie into the design, instead of just hanging there looking fluffy.

Also, DVDAnswers' official press release from Universal states that Kathy Najimy (the "fat one" in Sister Act and Hocus Pocus... ~_^) and David Paymer are doing voices, too. No characters are mentioned, but I like Najimy, so this is cool. LOL

DVDAnswers.com has a hi-res image of the cover art - nothing we haven't seen before, but it's a BIG pic, so... yeah. Hehe... here's the link - http://www.dvdanswers.com/index.php?r=0&s=1&c=5108&n=1&burl=
