Little info on B3

Written by steet :

First, I have changed the poll once again. I haven't put any fan art this time, I'll wait to have more to make an update to the fan section.
I have found a BIG cover, the complete spanish cover for B3 :

I've also found some advertising info (mixed with LBT10), still for the Spanish release (the release date there is oct 13th) : click here for the .pdf file.
Finally, a page for Balto 3 has been added on the IMDB.com database, with some interesting information : for example, the budget for this sequel was 3.500.000 $. I'm not really aware of the costs of an animated film, but this seems rather low, even for a DTV sequel, and it was probably the same amount for WQ. At least, the makers of the film must be proud to have managed to make of B3 a good film with that low budget!

Covers almost never have anything to do with any scene in particular; they certainly have no obligation to do so. And, like Steet said, most covers, particularly those for animated movies, strive to fit all or as many characters as possible into the picture. It's not as if it's anything new. Anyway, regardless of how "dopey" anyone does looks, I feel Kodi looks better when it comes to at least fitting the general style of the movies. Balto doesn't look like himself, or anyone ever seen in a Balto movie; he doesn't fit the style, regardless of how intelligent or sober he looks.

Nope. Kinda strange that the only countries who haven't got a release date are the USA and the UK...
Well, as for the cover, they usually put all the main characters on the cover, Disney do the same. It's not as if they were lying about the content.

BTW have there been any signs of a UK release date yet?

Well, we're in disagreementon just about everything then, I guess. I think Kodi looks dopey on the cover, whereas Balto looks.. well, less dopey. Boris, Muk and Luk I automatically assume are going to be looking dopey (at least on the non-US versions of Wolf Quest we only saw Balto and Aleu, and Aleu was the right size, even if the drawing wasn't too great).

One thing we can at least surmise from the US cover of Wolf Quest: what's depicted on the cover probably has nothing to do with any particular scene in the movie. i.e. at no time in Wolf Quest was there a half-size Aleu standing with Balto on a rock while Muk and Luk see-sawed in the background. Actually, at no stage in the film was there a a half-sized Aleu at all. I think the cover designers for Balto movies just work on the premise "fit all of the main characters onto the cover, even if what they're doing doesn't make any sense"

I think he was talking about TLK 2 Simba's Pride. I do think Kodi looks ok on the cover, but Boris looks really stupid if you look close.

The Lion King II special edition box. Anyway, I don't think I said anything about how Kodi looks in the trailer. I did say he looks better on the cover than Balto or anyone else does.

What special edition box? I agree Kodi looks great in the trailer, but definately not on the cover. But it's what's in the film that counts.

I think her name is Dipsy, based on the concept art. That may have changed, though; same with Mel. As for the cover art, seems like Universal's got a history of bad covers. :P But you can't judge a DVD by its cover. ;) I actually think Kodi fares better than most on this one, though. Poor Boris looks -really- silly, and I don't want to think about Muk and Luk. Balto just looks odd--all things considered, Kodi looks stunning. ;) At worst, he suffers from perspective issues. All in all, I have to say I like this cover. The SP special edition box makes me cringe. x.X

So who is the dog in the trailer who seems to be chewing up the side out of a packing crate (that is what it is, isn't it? It looks too stiff to be trousers), and (I think it's the same dog) reporting from under the floor grate?

Hey all!

It was me (Karakul) that submitted the info to IMDb a couple of weeks ago (using the info from here and Keyframe... ~_^), and I'm glad it's up now! However, I dunno where the budget, runtime, or a couple of the cast listings (Duke and Stella) came from - the IMDb editors may have added that in when they confirmed the film's existence. *shrug*

Everything looks pretty good on this new film - I'll definitely rent it whenever it comes to the States. And I'm almost positive that the female snow goose is Stella, because that's defiitely Jean Smart's voice in the trailer. ~_^

The DVD zone 2 cover for the first Balto is the worst in my opinion, I'm sure many people may think it's just a cheap copy by seeing the cover. Besides, there's even no pictures from the film on the cover ! The WQ one was not really better either, so even if the WOC one isn't that great, it's still far better than the previous ones, and will probably convince more people to buy it than the previous did.

You know, I hate to say this, but the more I see of that cover in better and better resolution pics, the less impressive it looks. This latest and best one actually looks pretty bad, IMO. Kodi looks like a total idiot. OTOH the cover of Wolf Quest was pretty bad, too. Come to think of it, even the cover of the first one wasn't that great.

Eh, just correcting myself, after typing up the description on the cover to run through Babelfish--Duke appears to be the pilot, not the dog. So the dog's probably still called Mel. :P

LOL, my reaction to that picture was somewhat similar to Greykitty's. Look how...extraordinarily humanoid she looks, too. I've seen a lot of "pinions acting like fingers" in animation before, but these seem...different, somehow. Who's the guy in the "tuxedo"? A dancer? Back-up singer? Half-penguin? XD *Coughs* But, anyway, this is definately the best cover yet! :D And the new IMDB info is verrry interesting. I think you're right about Stella; I'm not very familiar with Jean Smart, but I think her voice matches the line in the trailer. Another mildly interesting tidbit (well, I think it's interesting anyway)is that she was also in Sweet Home Alabama as "Stella Kay." Also, I would say "Mel" seems to have undergone a name-change since the concept art; I would guess he is now Duke. Whose voice, Keith Carradine, is the half-brother of David Carradine, voice of Nava. :) Hmm, Kathy Najimy's character doesn't appear to be on the list yet. I'm rather curious about whether her name has changed as well, or if the concept art I had nothing to do with her to begin with. ;P Whoo, I'm rambling, but I just love musing over these things! ^.^

Her name may be Stella, this name appears on the B3 page on the IMDB.com .

I'm not sure, but that capture still made me smile :) I've no doubt that the movie will still mostly be serious, even if there are things like that.

Tell me Boris's girlfriend doesn't have a 'nightclub scene', ala Jessica Rabbit (that's what that still loooks like)
