Hello Animation Source!
Mods have noticed all the problems going on with characters and what is accepted.
The first and probably one of the most important rules is that sparkle dogs/horses/lion ect... are not allowed. And if you aren't sure what a sparkle character is, it is any character that has an unnatural color that you would not find on the regular animal. So for almost any animal, that includes the colors blue, green, red, purple, pink ect. To go along with that, unrealistic designs are allowed. Please do not give your character excessive jewlery, this does include bracelets, necklaces, collars, leg warmers ect...
Many characters are getting deactivated because either we ask you to clean the body/head image or you don't have enough bio.
When it comes to finding a head image, make sure it is of only the head. It must be colored in and drawn/rendered cleanly. Linearts are allowed and if you choose to use one, make sure that you credit it. That is very important. Same goes for the body picture. It has to be colored in cleanly, again, if you use a lineart, credit the artist. A word of advice, if your character contuines to get deactivated because we ask you to clean the body picture, I suggest you use a lineart There are a ton out there, especially of wolves.
Now about the bio. What most mods look for are;

Imagination does not have to come in rainbow color.
By the way, thanks Wolf. Julian is my baby~< 3
Look at all different coats of many different breeds:
http://www.animationsource.org [...] flover201/wolflover201125f.png - She's a Mackenzie River Husky, and her coat is based of the real life dog breed. Look at the different realistic colours spread about in her.

Maxie's character, Julian. His coat is absolutely gorgeous, lovely colours in there. He doesn't look plain at all.
http://nicholescritters.homestead.com/AA_lt_sable.jpg - Look CLOSELY at the detail in the coat. Dogs don't need to be sparkle to look gorgeous.
AND ALL of these are much more appreciated than sparkles. NO DOG HAS THE SAME COAT MARKINGS. If you pay close attention, that is, you'll notice how different and gorgeous their coats can be. There are no need for sparkles.
And that's just dogs, think about cats and horses. Especially leopards and cheetahs.
this rule stops us creating a new breed

Light pink is anther matter. Champagne and Cremello can have a slightly pinkish hue to it, and both of those are real horse colors. Nala has a very slight pinkish hue to her. As for dogs, well, you've always got the Chinese crested and Mexican hairless, so they would naturally have some form of pale pink skin showing. Not hot pink or neon pink, of course, but...you know, 'skin' pink.
Once again, just my opinion.
Mods, what do you think on this matter?

allso one other thing would pale colours like greens and pinks count as sparkle? like ones so pale that if you just took one look you wouldnt see it but if you realy looked you would

in that would the frist 2 be sparkles? the last one i know isnt i just put that in as it would be are dark red roan
All in all, when it comes to colors like orange, red and blue, the mods will have to use discretion and maybe even do a quick image search to be certain that the color of the character in question is either correctly portrayed or too garish and should be toned down a bit.
But neons are a definite no-no, (unless it's for a bird like a toucan or parrot).

I agree with your analysis (hence why I said 'does not always' in my previous comment) and that it does make a good argument for what colours can be on a realistic design. Green, pinks and purples, meanwhile, are not natural colours on a canine and probably never shall be. I agree that characters that have dull shades of red (i.e. crimson or even burgundy) shouldn't be classed as 'sparkledogs' as crimson itself is not a 'sparkly' colour. When I think of 'sparkly'; the colours pink, lime green and such come to mind, not crimson. People may bring up Dixie and Jenna in their arguments for sparkledogs to be allowed here but the shade of red on Jenna's fur doesn't burn into my retinas, for one thing.

Also, referring to animals as 'red' or 'blue' does not always mean a literal blue or red colouring. It's like in blue merle coats on Australian shepherds/border collies and such, it is more of a grey colour rather than blue. Just sayin'.
If however, the creator of the character has proof of real colors, then they show it to the mod who questioned them about it and they just leave it alone.
Razor
It may not be 'Jenna-red' but it's pretty darn close. I think, before the mods go deactivating all the characters who portray colors they may not think are real, perhaps they should do a little research first and see what ARE realistic animal colors. The color of the horse in the link is called a 'blood-red'. You also have 'blue roan' and 'red/strawberry roan' horse-colors, as well as rare colors and patterns.
Also, not to sound disrespectful, but shouldn't ALL the global mods agree on what's a 'sparkle' and what isn't? It just seems like it would cause a lot of problems if only one mod feels that a certain colored character shouldn't be considered real, when there might be others who have in fact seen said color before and know it's real....
