We all know that Universal has no plan for making a Balto 4, and that it's been a long time since they've forgotten everything about An American Tail.
And now, it's Land Before Time turn...
It's now "official" : Universal has stopped with the Land Before Time sequels, as well as the TV series.
This is a little bit of information I've found on a reliable site :
Universal Cartoon Studios has shuttered the long-running Land Before Time and continues with the popular Curious George, delighting the tots on PBS.

I contacted the author who posted this, and here's what he answered :
Land Before Time (series and features) is shut down. Its longtime director Charles Grovesnor has moved on to other projects.
Nothing (that I know of) re "Balto."
Don't have any e-mail contacts, I get my information by walking through the place.
Nothing about Balto either, but I won't say I'm really surprised - at least it confirms that they truly have nothing planned for Balto currently (and neither Land Before Time)
I think we can officially say this is the end of the Universal sequels, as we know them.
Meanwhile, Universal is preparing its very first 3D animated film, named The Tale of Despereaux and meant to be released on late 2008...
Balto reads and more

first they do 11111 billion sequels for LBT, and now that
their being successfull they stop. Is too weird for me...
don't think it has ever happened in the animated film
industry, but well I may be wrong.
Anyway, no, they
never announced officially the end of the Balto franchise :
but they answered our previous petition by saying that
"Balto 3 did not sell enough to make it attractive to
produce another sequel"
after TLBT 7: The Stone Of Cold Fire, but I gotta say this
is an outrage! Universal clearly doesn't know how to handle
their animation ventures.
ine {CD}
or
false.
I think they were used as some kind of
"Cash Crops" for the company, however, I think as well as
some that someday, maybe Disney will buy it.
I
know how Disney is and they believe they are "superior" to
anyone, superior to Nick, Jetix, even Cartoon Network. I
think they will be so stubborn and will buy Balto cause they
want everything.
As far as I know, Disney
Channel, which is a paid of channel has taken much of
Balto's percent of ratings, it may have overshadowed the
DVD's
I don't know if a Balto 4 is going out,
but if I do know something is the fact that Disney wants
everything others have, so, if they are like that, like they
told me, Disney would then save the franchise.
and yeah, its terrorific that they end their sequels
without announcement.
But I have a question,
they declared Land Before Time end, but, have declared
Balto's end?
that people have caught on that that was what they were
doing they lost interest. Thus no money, thus they stop the
sequels.
I mean, come on. 10 years, 13 sequels
and a TV series later, about time. They ruined it for
themselves.
writers strike and all, it seems that a lot of film
companies are in trouble. Universal perhaps... is at it's
very low point. They may not have enough money to even make
something very cheap, not only this but they have to think
about if they do make it, if it will give them enough of a
profit.
one of a kind book...
Anyways, The Land Before
Time was..ehh, in my opinion, getting old. It's a good thing
they stopped. Classics can't go on forever.
their franchises, without even making an announcement, and
especially after making TWO Land before time films AND a LBT
TV series during the same year? What are they really playing
it, because I really don't understand their business
plans...
Before Time series; I thought it was popular just a while
ago. Don't know what happened to it. Maybe not making
sequels to the movies might be a good thing? I'm not really
sure.
I just hope they make 'The Tale of
Desperaux' good. I'm not sure how it would look in 3D.
enough. Universal just would've gotten mroe and more cheaper
and stupid when it came to the sequels and they wouldn't do
the story justice. It is sad that The Land Before Time,
American Tale, and Balto has met its demise, but at least we
still have the movies they did make... wether they are any
good or not. I still believe that Universal should sell
Balto to Disney or a company that would do it justice.
