As of February 17th 2008, all mate material must be removies from your profiles!
As said before, it is also to keep out of the shout boxes, too.
The message that I recieved, and in the Topic Line of the shout box, reads as follows:
"ATTENTION! All members which have mate content in their profiles must remove them by the end of this week (February 17th 2008) due to the "No mates are allowed" policy. Those who will still have mate information after the mentioned date will be banned without any notice."
Please, all members comply with this new "rule" -- no one likes to be banned and we don't like to ban anyone.

fanfics and forums. that means mates are only allowed in forum
roleplays and fanfiction, and obviously fanart.
Please answer, I'm trying to understand
rings
me. just tell me Yes or No. are mates allowed in the fanfics on the
forums?
ture
fanarts only allow this concept.
heavymetalwolf--> mates are,
and have been, limited to forum roleplays, fanfiction and of the like
because of constant fights and problems. So I'm sorry to say, but NO
mates. There's really no more tolerance.
only one who contributed to this rule and I didn't think it up myself.
However, now with Steet's word, I'm going to follow it myself.
As for "character mates," I'm sure that would still be allowed. Just
as long as it's not two PEOPLE (like user1 and user2 or something)
using the characters as "escape goats" to get around the rule.
I
don't know. Steet, or a better-knowing mod, will have to clarify this
for all of us.
saying,"I need a mate." We don't even know some of these people,so
it's like saying,"I love you stranger." That's how i think of it.You
can make friends on this site shure, but mates are a bit much.
responciblity of having a mate apparently. Their are threats in
profiles and fites that break out in shoutboxes due to mates. This is
why they are inforcing this rule.

just
wondering.......
strict the rules have to be. And it's for everyone safety. But in fact
it's not that new. Since the mate box was removed 2 years ago, I've
always said : if you really want to do it, keep your mate talks
outside of the site, use messengers or anything, but this is NOT the
right place for this.

the only place where the mate thing is allowed? just asking, cause
sometimes i have a hard time trying to understand when people say or
write something.

(kids being 10 under) don't care really. I will be ''mature'' and
remove my mate stuff from my profile but i think it is unfair.

Forums. If you have any other questions, feel free to message and
ask.
Walto---> We've sent many warnings to people and on the
average it seems 3/10 actually do anything about it.
Bruno-->
We've been sending warnings all along. And don't worry, it'll be as
fair as it can be hopefully. Warnings obviously still apply. The way
some members have been ignoring the messages however can only be
blamed themselves for not modifying their profiles in plenty of
different regards.
To others who brought the following point up:
Mates & Co. has only been allowed in forum roleplays and evidently in
"artistic writing" aka fanfiction as well as fanart, but nowhere else
for ages now! So literally, NOTHING is being changed.

won't be able to read any more of rotramel's fan fics. I mean, do you
really want to ruin that for all of us?
you needn't shout at everyone. And what are you yelling over? This
rule has been in effect for a long time, it just now applied to
profiles as well. There's no need to shout at everyone for it.

read that I was worried of what might happen from it. And so I went
around asking about every mod if they personally would give a waring
because I'm so thick-headed and stubborn. XD
information on how to use this site.
going to ban most of it, ban it all. It all can lead to the same exact
problems, regardless of it's location on the site. There is no special
treatment for the forums, versus the boxes. The only difference
between them is that one is a shout box and the other is a static
forum. The rules apply for the ENTIRE site, including the forums, not
"just" the boxes and profiles.
As for the no warning
thing...That is seriously extreme. One warning in this case (i.e. PM
to take it down if they dont see the topic line) would be plenty...but
banned just because? Give me a break...
Like the mods or
any other member on here hasnt done something that has warranted a
banning, but instead got a warning. Gee, perhaps we should do this for
the rest of the rules too, right? Seeing how they've been there
forever.
give the people with the mate info one chance so that if they weren't
here to see the new addition to this that they wouldn't find
themselves banned? I just don't want to see members banned if they do
not know that they have done wrong.
The
Guardian
rule is specific to profiles, RP box, normal shoutbox. Only place
where you are allowed to directly roleplay as mates, is on the forums.
their mate is and who their character's mate is in their profiles,
after all, the profiles are everyones personal space in a way, right?
should still be allowed in art and Fictions (with the same rules). I
mean, really, are we going to force the users to stop that, too?
something like " Saba is my character, she is balto's offspring, and
her mate is Hectha"?
The
Guardian
see the point about mates. If I was in charge, even the slightest mate
talking would result in two-three weeks vacation to the banned box.
Anyhow, roleplaying mates is fine in the FORUMS, because it
can be easily moderated. Also, some people go to the extent of
actually saying they love someone they haven't even met in reality.
And, let's say you did the mates thing, "fell in love" with a
member and became mates, then were supposed to meet in real life. To
your surprise, that promising little girl/guy at the age of twelve
turns out to be a maniac at the age of 40! Would you think this rule
is stupid then?
This is a CHILDREN'S website, MATES ARE
AGAINST THE RULES, PERIOD! End of discussion. This will not be
changed.
f
Couldn't you send a pm to
everyone on the site?
*My ideas are dumb.
