Hello Animation Source!
Mods have noticed all the problems going on with characters and what is accepted.
The first and probably one of the most important rules is that sparkle dogs/horses/lion ect... are not allowed. And if you aren't sure what a sparkle character is, it is any character that has an unnatural color that you would not find on the regular animal. So for almost any animal, that includes the colors blue, green, red, purple, pink ect. To go along with that, unrealistic designs are allowed. Please do not give your character excessive jewlery, this does include bracelets, necklaces, collars, leg warmers ect...
Many characters are getting deactivated because either we ask you to clean the body/head image or you don't have enough bio.
When it comes to finding a head image, make sure it is of only the head. It must be colored in and drawn/rendered cleanly. Linearts are allowed and if you choose to use one, make sure that you credit it. That is very important. Same goes for the body picture. It has to be colored in cleanly, again, if you use a lineart, credit the artist. A word of advice, if your character contuines to get deactivated because we ask you to clean the body picture, I suggest you use a lineart There are a ton out there, especially of wolves.
Now about the bio. What most mods look for are;

Alright, for the love of all the things sane and holy, stop trying to
change something you cannot! The bottom line is, anything sparkle is NOT ALLOWED HERE. (don't take my caps as yelling, it's used as emphasis since I cannot use italics.) You want your sparkles? Delete your account from this site and join DeviantART. You will not be able to make the sparkles here, we will all go ahead and report them or the mods will delete them. This argument is useless! Going around and being stubborn and trolling all who oppose you does not solve the problem, and it never will. It's the internet. And this is a fansite, not a hub for all of your characters and rainbow fantasies. Maybe I was like you once, but I've realized that people here have been right. And this is all I'm going to say about the subject. |

No, it's hard to tell that they're different if you don't look
closely. -_- They are pretty similar, though. It is just hard to tell if you don't look closely at the wolves. Look, Balto Source doesn't need sparkle characters, and neither do any of the other sites, because most sensible members either take their sparkles to DA, or simply don't care and just post well-designed realistic ones, and, not many people seem to care. Only you and you're multiple guest user clones seem to have a problem with it, and don't seem to want to take sparkles to DA or other sites. They can be posted somewhere else. If you're so keen to post characters, why don't you just post unique designed realistic ones? I seriously don't get why you are complaining so much, characters haven't been banned permanently themselves. So, if I were you, I'd just get on with it like the lot of us are, sparkle drama has finally died down now.  |

If you think that all these animals look identical, you probably need to get your eyes checked. Similar, sure, because you know, they're the SAME SPECIES, but they are all clearly unique from each other.
Not to mention that markings are not the only aspect of a character's design; build is important, too. Two characters can have exactly the same markings while still being very distinct from each other simply by their character builds. -nodnod-
Point being: it takes a LOT more creativity to make a unique, realistic character. Splashing bright colors on a lineart does not make your "character" creative; it only shows a lack thereof.
