History: Her pack left her in a bush when she was too weak to carry on traveling in a famine. She then met her mate, Oni , who was a sleddog, and they had a pup named Siena.  After she is born, Ania and Oni argue and Ania walks out. The couple avoid each other, and Siena grows up happily. As a teenager, she decides to leave her mother because she feels too out of place. Ania willingly lets her go, but soon she begins to regret letting Siena leave. She gets sick often and finds it hard to hunt. Oni comes back from a terrible sledding accident, and since his team and owner are dead, he decides to stay with Ania. Oni, however, is badly injured and it is clear he is at the end of his lifeline. She pushes away these worries, but soon she becomes sick again, and Oni is only getting worse. One night, Oni dies. Ania is heartbroken.

As she begins to bury Oni, a fox appears and begins to watch her. Ania and Fox establish a friendship, but Fox often worries about her friend. Ania seems to be holding something back, not giving some part of herself. Soon they meet a small pup by the name of Lulu. Fox doesn't want to let Lulu stay with them, but Ania insists. One day, Lulu tells Ania that her father's best friend, a sleddog, is caught in an avalanche and is dead. She also says that her dad, the sleddog, and she used to go to bush and eat sausages there. Lulu figures out that Ania was Oni's mate, and she and Ania become closer.

Lulu and Fox then go into town and meet Lulu's father, who wants to see Ania. Ania, however, has plans of her own. She makes her way back to her old bush. Suddenly, she becomes violently sick. Fox, Bandit, and Lulu help her to recover and she pulls out of her depression. She lives in the bush until she dies.

 How she is related to Balto: She is Balto's mother's sister, in other words, Balto's aunt.
