Personality: Very shy and quiet, Melodi was always a delicate little thing. Never one to romp and play, she'd sit on the sidelines simply looking on. Though small, she was very quick, and could often outrun her siblings. But she found herself clumsy. She often tripped over her own paws, and then be laughed at by other pups. Her selfestime was very low, and she never felt at home where she was. She was pretty sure she was a dissapointment to her parents to (of course, they didn't think that, but poor Mel didn't know that). Her favorite place in the world was the beach. She was fasinated by the ocean and loved nothing more then watching the waves roll and dip with the wind. Her favorite thing to do was play and swim in the water during sunset. The way the water sparkled when the sun set was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. She felt at home by the water.
History: (Read personality) She was called the "runt" by others, but her parents referd to her as "simply small boned". Melodi was picked on alot by other pups, and spent most of her time at the beach. When it was time for the pups to be adopted, Melodi was convinced no one would adopt her, because she was so small and clumsy. She curled up in one corner of the box and watched her siblings be taking away one by one. It wasen't long before Mel was the only one left.
After the sun had started to set, (Mel was watching it set in the direction of the beach longingly), a woman came along and picked her up. Melodi was excited at first, but it soon became clear that her new home wasen't what she had hoped. The woman had three boys (ages 7, 9, and 12) eaither played very roughly with her, or conpletly ignored her. Her owners kept her locked up in the house all the time, and they didn't live near the beach, so Melodi couldn't even see the ocean. Poor Mel was misrable. She wimperd at night, but the 9 year old would throw a slipper at her and yell for her to shut up.
Then one day, the family went out and Mel found one of the windows open. Mel wasted no time and crawled out, then made a beeline for the closest beach. She ran straight into the water and let the waves splash agasint her face. Melodi layed down in the shallow water and watched the fish come and nibble at her tail. She felt lost and confused. What was she going to do now? She couldn't, wouldn't, go back to her owners. Her parents wouldn't want their failure of a daughter to live with them (poor, poor Mel still thought they didn't want her D: ) and she wasen't sure is she could even get to their house, she had no clue where her siblings where. What was she to do?
Just when Mel thought of living in one of the old boats on the outskirts of town, a voice behind her made her jump and look up. A dog, looking about a year or so older the her, asked who she was. Shaking from head to tail, Mel anserwd. The dog, male, asked what she was doing out here. Mel told him, and the dog, suprisingly, listend. Then the male asked where her family was. Mel said she wasen't sure. The male smiled sympatheticly and asked if she would come with him. Confused, and a bit frightened, Mel slowly followed. The dog led her to a old run down shack away from town. There were two other dogs in the shack, and the male introduced them as Violet and Roy, his parents. Then the male said he was Korik. Korik told his parents Mel's predicament, and the two older dogs looked sympatheticly at her. Violet gently nuzzled her and asked if she'd like to live with them. Melodi was suprised by their genorus offer, and eagerly agreed.
Violet and Roy treated her like their own daughter, and Mel was soon calling them 'Mom' and 'Dad', and Korik was the perfect big brother to Mel. Meldoi was perfectly happy since being adopted. Then one day, Roy told them they had to leave Alaska. Melodi was starlted, but Violet assured her everything was fine. Mel was reluctent to leave, but she didn't want to leave her new family eaither. So, she snuck aboard the next ship out of Alaska with them. Mel didn't like riding the boat, it was took dark and smelled weird. She burried her face in Korik's fur the entire time. When the boat stopped, Korik picked her up by the scruff and carried her off the ship. Mel was suprised when she saw where they were. Everything was so green!
Mel looked around widly as Korik carried her. Roy told her they were in Montana. Mel was amazed. It was so beautiful! They walked all day, until finnaly Korik put her down. Mel looked up and saw they had stopped at a run-down looking house. A big house! Mel rushed inside and was shocked at how big it was. Then Korik showed her the back and Mel was thrilled beyond belive. A beach was behind the house! Melodi imeditly dashed into the water with a splash, calling Korik to come and play with her. The two splashed and romped in the water until Violet said it was time for bed. Mel curled up next to Korik and fell fast asleep.
Sadly, Melodi's happiness was short lived.
After living in the house for about a month, Roy came back from one of his runs looking for food and told them they had to leave right away. Mel was about to ask why, when there was a howl and then the front and back doors swung open and a group of large dogs surronded them. Roy orderd Korik to get Mel out of there, but as Korik grabbed her, two dogs blocked their way. A very large, black dog then enterd the house and said something about Roy and Violet couldn't avoid him forever. Mel was confused and terrified.
Then the black dog told four other dogs to attack Roy and Violet. Mel screamed and Korik tried to run, but a dog tackled him. Mel was knocked from his grasp and landed a few feet from the stairs. Korik threw the dog off and lept in front of her. The black dog orderd three dogs to attack him and Mel. Mel was frozen with terror as she watched Korik try and fight off the dogs, but not only where there three of them, they were also much larger then him. Korik was killed. Mel was frozen with terror. Beyoned Korik's limp body, she saw Roy and Violets motionless bodies on the ground. The black dog chuckled mencingly, then order two dogs to get her. Shocked into action, Mel sprinted up the stairs. One of the dogs snaped at her leg and she yelped, but kicked him in the eye and the dog let go. Melodi ran into one of the rooms upstairs and ducked inside a closet. The door shut with a click just as she heard the dogs enter. After a few seconds, the black dog's voice called them down, saying she must have gotten outside, then the sound of pawsteps, then silence. Mel, shacken with fear and shock, collasped.
Melodi wasen't sure how long she was in the closet, but her eyes snapped open when she heard a voice and pawsteps. Fearing the dogs had come back, Mel cowerd in the corner of the closet, a tiny whimper escaping her. She heard the pawsteps come up the stairs and then come in the room. She started shaking as they came closer and she saw a shadow fall in front of the door. Mel's eyes widened as the door opened. A black female with gold eyes and a white wing necklace looked down at her. When the female asked if she was okay, Melodi lunged foreward and burried her face in the females fur and cried.
