Dislikes: Steele, making a fool of himself, letting others down
History: Chester was born to two sledding Chows somewhere in the Nome area, and ever since he was a young pup, he showed signs of a strong and promising sled dog. When he was eight weeks old, he caught the eye of the musher of one of Nome’s top sled teams, so he was adopted and trained to be a skilled racing dog. Growing up, Chester was grateful to be on such a strong sled team, but his team constantly got beat out by another team lead by Steele, the town’s best sled dog. Steele always rubbed Chester the wrong way, but he kept quiet about it because he knew everyone loved and practically worshipped Steele, and he didn’t want to ruffle any feathers. However, in the year of 1925, Chester’s team made it to the championships, along with Steele’s team. Chester’s team was about to win, when suddenly, Steele snapped at Chester and caused him to jump, throwing off Chester’s team and causing them to lose the championship. Chester felt horrible because he felt it was his fault that his team lost, and from that day on he truly loathed Steele. However, when the truth about Steele came out after the Serum Run, Chester was relieved that everyone finally saw Steele for who he truly was, and his team assured him that Steele had played dirty and that it wasn’t Chester’s fault the team lost.
The next year, Chester and his team made the championships again. They were up against Steele’s team again, but this time with Balto in the lead, as he had replaced Steele after he ran out of town. Balto was a fair player, but Chester still had to worry, because in the middle of the race, the team got lost in the forest and crossed wolf pack territory. The wolves of the pack demanded that the dogs either join the pack or get killed for trespassing. However, one wolfdog in the pack named Akna, who’s father happened to be pack leader, didn’t agree with holding these dogs hostage simply because they accidentally crossed the pack territory, and so she tried to negotiate with her father to have him let the dogs leave unharmed. Akna got to know the rest of the sled team, and particularly took a shining to Chester, who had fallen for her. Eventually, Akna helped the team get back home safely, and Chester wondered if they would ever see each other again. So, one day, he did something he never imagined doing- he wandered into the forest in search of Akna. They found each other, and decided to hang out some more and become friends. Eventually, they became mates and had some pups, some of which remained with Akna’s pack while some others became pets and sled dogs like Chester.
Relation to Balto: Was on the sled team racing against Steele in the beginning of the first movie
