History: Poppy was the youngest pup of Lily and Yukon, Balto’s son. Although she was the runt of the litter, she was far from weak; she proved to be very strong-willed and independent. When she was of age, she was adopted by a young family in town who had a young girl named Samantha; Samantha and Poppy were extremely close and Poppy always looked out for her girl.
When she got older, Poppy was allowed to roam throughout town and even on the outskirts. One day, she was exploring in the woods when a bear came out of nowhere and tried attacking Poppy. However, a wolf came in and saved Poppy just in time. The wolf introduced himself as Aivik, and Poppy found him to be very charming. He was a lone wolf and didn’t really have anyone, so Poppy decided to befriend him and hang with him. Eventually, the two of them fell in love and became mates, but Poppy’s world shattered when Aivik was shot and killed by a hunter. Poppy was devastated and believed she would never be able to find love again after losing the wolf that meant so much to her.
However, Poppy eventually met a husky named Caton who lived in the rich area of Nome and loved to spoil Poppy rotten. Poppy was taken by his charming personality, but didn’t really have feelings for him like he did for her. However, one day, while walking in the forest and thinking about her late mate, Poppy ran into a wolf named Taku who was trying to save his niece Ahnah from a raging river she had fallen in. Poppy knew she had to help the two wolves, and so she helped grab Ahnah out of the water and save her life. Taku knew he had to repay this stranger somehow, and so he treated her to some fresh caribou meat. The two talked together and hit it off, and eventually started to hang out more. Poppy could feel herself falling for Taku, but couldn’t accept it — she was terrified of falling in love with another wolf, believing she may lose him the way she lost Aivik. So, she forced herself to try and like Caton since he was the “safer” option, and a love triangle between Poppy, Caton, and Taku ensued. However, after a conversation with her mother, Poppy realized she couldn’t be so scared to love someone because of what the future might bring. So, Poppy gathered the courage to ask Taku to be her boyfriend, to which Taku gladly accepted, as he had loved Poppy for a while now. Poppy admitted her fears to Taku, but Taku said he would always be there for his girl no matter what. Taku and Ahnah stayed near the outskirts of Nome so that they could be near Poppy, and eventually Poppy and Taku became mates and had puppies together.
Relation to Balto: His granddaughter
