Personality: Reuben has a very curious nature and loves to try new things out. He loves feeling a sense of adventure and doesn’t like being cooped up in one place; he’s always on the move. He tends to over-romanticize things, such as his mother’s life as a street dog. He loves putting on a brave face and looking tough and macho, especially to girls and those whom he wants to impress. However, deep down inside, he is rather cowardly. He is very kind and would do anything for a friend, and he has a tender side to him, but he doesn’t really show it that often.

Likes: Exploring, street life (initially), running, playing, the forest, meat

Dislikes: Being in danger, the dark, hostile dogs, gangs

History: Reuben was the third child of Kodi and Meri. Growing up, he was always fascinated by the life his mother lived as a stray and all the stories she told him about living on the streets. One day, when he was about a year old, he wanted try being a stray himself, so he ran away from his owner’s home and began life on the streets. He was sad to leave his human, a little boy named Robert, but he knew sacrifices would have to be made in order for him to start this new chapter of his life.

    Being a stray wasn’t easy at first. He had a hard time stealing food without getting caught, and he had difficulty finding shelter on the cold nights. But one day, as he was stealing a sausage link from an alleyway, he got chased by a gang of dogs who wanted to take the sausage from him. Reuben was out of luck until a female malamute-wolf mix fought off the other dogs. Reuben thanked her for saving his life, and the wolfdog introduced herself as Akna. She had been living on the streets her whole life and considered it the greatest thing in the world, and figured she could take Reuben under his wing and teach him everything there was to know about being a street dog. Reuben and Akna spent a couple weeks roaming the streets together, and they became good friends. Life as a stray was still not easy for Reuben, but he was getting used to it. However, one day, the same gang of dogs tried to steal food from him and Akna, and while the two tried to fight the gang off, Akna got seriously injured. A fit of rage suddenly burst through Reuben and he fought all the dogs off, and quickly rushed Akna to the vet after seeing she was in critical condition. Luckily, Akna ended up being okay, but she did need to rest for a while before getting back on her feet. Meanwhile, Reuben realized maybe life on the streets just wasn’t for him, and so he went back to Robert’s house, happy to be reunited with his boy again. However, he still kept in touch with Akna, and even smuggled some of the food from his house for her to eat.
