Personality: Qannik is very fiery and takes her job as a sled dog seriously. She is a strong leader and knows how to whip her team into shape, but also knows when to relax and have fun. She has a bit of a temper and is quick to lash out at others. However, she is very coolheaded when she’s not angered, and is very loyal. She is very friendly and welcoming and enjoys helping others out, like when she helped BJ get a spot on the team. She initially has a hard time forgiving others, but learns to forgive BJ for his mistakes. She can be a bit stubborn, but is steadfast.

History: Qannik was born somewhere in the Nome Census Area to a house dog father and a sled dog mother. Qannik showed strong signs of being a good sled dog, and thus was trained to be one like her mother. At around one year old, she was shipped off to Nome to be on one of their racing teams, and was quickly promoted to lead dog since she was a very good sled dog for her age. 

    One day, Qannik’s team made it to a championship race happening on an island outside of Nome. It was a very high-stakes race, and nobody on the sled team was familiar with this track as they had not been on the island before. However, Qannik’s team did quite well, getting second place. Sometime during the race, Qannik’s team had run through the woods, and she caught a brown wolf staring at her rather intently; she thought nothing of it, however, believing maybe the wolf had never seen a dogsled team before. Eventually, Qannik returned to Nome with her team, and after a couple of days, she bumped into the very same wolf who was staring at her in the forest the week before. He was actually a wolfdog and introduced himself as BJ and told her he wanted a spot on her sled team, as he wanted to give dogsledding a try. However, being mostly wolf, BJ greatly disliked the confines of the harness he had to wear and became aggressive towards the other dogs and even the musher. As a result, he got kicked off the team, and Qannik wanted nothing to do with him anymore. She didn’t see BJ at all for another couple of weeks, until one day he returned, apologizing for his wolf side taking over, and letting Qannik know he had finally found his place in the world, as the pet of Duke the pilot and living with his grandfather Balto. Qannik was glad BJ had found out who he was, and figured she should give him another chance, as his outbursts a couple weeks earlier weren’t really his fault. She started to hang out with BJ when she was done training with her team, and eventually the two fell in love and became mates, having four puppies.
