Personality: Desna is very strong-willed and hardworking, and when she has a goal, she sees it through. She can be a bit bossy. She is quite intelligent and has good leadership skills, but like her dad, has a tendency to think before she acts. She is quite firm to her beliefs and sometimes gets upset when people don’t agree with her on certain things. She comes across as serious most of the time, but she does like to have her fun. She is very kind and caring, a great older sister, and is an enthusiastic and curious learner. She often feels pressured to be perfect.

History: Desna was the eldest child of pack leaders Hotah and Nayeli. She was very strong and smart even at a young age, and was the self-proclaimed leader of all her sisters. She was appointed as future leader of the pack from a young age, and she took her training very seriously. She was especially a good hunter and knew all the right spots to take down even the largest caribou. She was the apple of her parent’s eye, and enjoyed pretty much every minute of it. She was also quite close to her grandmother Aleu, who was also once leader of the pack. However, there were times where she felt pressured to be perfect like her father and grandmother before her, and she beat herself up pretty hard whenever she made a mistake.

    As Desna got older, she took her training more and more seriously, but also felt more and more pressured to be as good as those who came before her. One night when she was feeling extremely overwhelmed, she was out on a late night hunt to prove to her parents (but mostly to herself) that she was worthy of being pack leader. While out on her hunt, she overheard her sister Jutta talking to her boyfriend Eyak about how she often felt she was living in Desna’s shadow and secretly wished she were pack leader instead. Desna had an outburst, spilling to her sister about all the pressure she was feeling, and soon the two sisters broke into an argument, which had more disastrous effects than they could have imagined. The loud noises they were making caused a caribou stampede, and while they tried to escape, Eyak got badly injured, and they weren’t sure if he was going to make it. The two sisters put their argument aside and they decided to split up - Desna would steer the caribou away from clan territory so the other wolves wouldn’t get hurt, and Jutta would stay with Eyak and help him heal. Desna was able to get the caribou out of clan territory, and miraculously, Eyak survived and made a full recovery. After realizing how well the two sisters worked together, Desna and Jutta made up. Desna figured maybe Jutta would be a better pack leader after all, as she had a more calm temperament and tended to think things through a little more, so she passed the role of pack leader onto Jutta.

    A little while after, a pack in a nearby territory was experiencing hardships. They began stealing food from Hotah’s pack, and upon further investigation, it was revealed that the pack had lost their leader and were experiencing a time of disorder. A new wolf named Tulok had taken over, but he was evil and power-hungry and made the other wolves’ lives miserable. After seeing how horribly the wolves were suffering, Desna wanted to step in, but Tulok refused to give up his role as leader. It ended in the two wolves having a bloody duel, and Desna just barely won. She was then appointed as the new pack leader.
