Dinkum is a laid back dog ,he enjoys his work and table scraps, he trys to see the good in all dogs,however this leads him to miss judge some dogs such as steele.

Dinkum was born 12 years before the 1925 serum run, he was part of a small litter in a kennel breeding for dogs who could pull heavy loads, out of Dinkums little only he and his sister where picked to be trained sled dogs the others went off to become pets.

Dinkum had a pretty standard pup hood,eat sleep repeat , he loved the table scraps his owner would sometimes throw to the dogs, once he turned 9 months old his sled training started, learning what each command was, how to wear the harness and of course the training to have weight behind him to pull

At two years old Dinkum was put in a team to pull between towns, while his team was not bred for speed , they did better than a lot of the others pulling for weight, at first he was a team dog but he showed a keen eye for things, at around 3 years of age he was made a swing dog which he did well at, he could be trusted almost as much as the current teams lead dog.Dinkum also became a father for the first time around this age ,his pups where to a mother from another kennel so he never met them, he would go on to have a few litters but never met the pups (at least not meeting them and knowing they are his) due to all being from other kennels

It was when he turned 5 when be became a lead dog himself the old one retired due to age, at this time his owner had started to get a few huskies on the team as most people wanted speed rather then heavy loads , Dinkum didn't mind, he did his job as best he could.

The rest of his sledding time was pretty normal , old dogs retired as new dogs got trained in, the biggest change he saw was that people started to let dogs roam Nome more, his owner did allow his to so long as they returned when called, but dinkum preferred staying at home.
When dinkum was 8 a new pup was bought in , a fine legged black and white malamute , the young dog was to be trained, Dinkum watched the pup with interest out of all the pups he had seen trained in the past this one showed promise to becoming a lead dog

And so it was, Steele at the age of two joined Dinkum as lead dog, Dinkum enjoyed pulling with the younger dog, while a bit up himself , Dinkum always tried to humble him, it never worked for long.
Dinkum was now 10 years old and knew soon , he would have to retire but he loved the work, one day on a run he tripped,sending the whole team to a stop, the owner saw to him, while nothing seemed to be wrong , both his owner and Dinkum knew this was a sign for Dinkum to retire from sledding

Most other dogs got sold to pet homes when they retired but not Dinkum, Dinkum was kept by his owner as a pet , including being allowed to live inside with him ,it was a cold winter's day when his owner came home and said they he would be away for some days as he had won the contract to collect some medication Dinkum was shocked days later when steele came home without their owner , he told him and the other gathered dog the rest of the team,and their owner died in the cold and that the towns wolf dog balto had fallen off a cliff with the medicine, that's when a red husky called jenna called him a liar. Dinkum didn't know want to think and left to go back to his home, hoping jenna was right for the sake of his owner and the other dogs

In the early hours of the morning she was proven right , a howl awoke the town , it was balto and the team! , Dinkums owner was hurt but alive and was taken care of, steele on the other hand was outcast , he still lived at the place Dinkum and the team did but most saw him for what he was , not to be trusted, once the owner recovered Steele was given to a neighbor as a pet , the owner had chosen to do so as he couldn't trust a dog that abandoned his team.

Dinkum went on to enjoy retired life , he would now and again help teach pups ,but mostly just lazed about.
