History: Kala was the youngest pup in Kiska and Tungsten’s second litter. She was born without the inability to use her back legs, and because of this, Kiska and Tungsten’s musher was planning to put her down, believing no one would want her. But every time any human put their hands towards Kala, Kiska would viciously protect her daughter, and the musher finally decided to let Kala live after Kiska almost bit him.
As she got a bit older, Kala used a wheelchair to get around. She loved playing with her siblings but wished she could run the way they did. However, she still continued playing with her brothers and sisters and they always included her. At eight weeks old, Kala and her siblings were put up for adoption. Eventually, all her siblings were adopted, and Kala was the last puppy in the box. Kiska and Tungsten were afraid Kala would not be able to find a loving owner because of her disability, but they kept holding out hope. The next day, their hopes came true: Kala was adopted by a little boy named Timmy, who also happened to be in a wheelchair due to having been infected with Polio. Timmy had recently been deeply upset about never being able to walk again, but he found joy again in Kala, much like how she found joy in Timmy.
Growing up, Kala was well-liked amongst the dogs of Nome for her fun personality. Sometimes she experienced teasing due to her disability, which helped her to grow closer to her grandpa Balto, who had also been bullied when he was younger. However, most of the dogs were kind to Kala and enjoyed her company. Eventually, Timmy’s father opened up a bakery and ice cream parlor in town, and he brought Kala to work with him so she could greet the customers. Kala loved being around people, and she especially loved stealing cookies when her human wasn’t looking. One day, a lady came to the bake shop and brought a male husky named Wynn with her. Wynn and Kala started to talk and instantly clicked, and Wynn promised he would try to drag his owner to the store whenever they took a walk so that he could see her. It was clear Wynn had feelings for Kala, and soon Kala started to feel the same.
Relation to Balto: Balto’s granddaughter

I like her design, (favorites- -), but poor her having to
need to use a wheelchair for her back legs, (but hey you're the first
people that I know of, to add that to your character, and I wish that
I could draw one, a wheelchair for dogs, like you), ![]() |
if you want to learn how to draw the wheelchair, I just looked up pictures of doggy wheelchairs and copied them from there!
