Name: Kobuk
Nickname(s): Shadow
Age: Same as Balto and Jenna
Species: Siberian Husky
Parents: TBA
Siblings: Mitzi, others
Mate: Dixie
Pups: Lindy
Appearance: Kobuk has black fur and a gray underbelly. He is very thin and scrawny for a husky and has thin, scruffy fur like Balto’s despite being a purebred. He has dark blue eyes like Dusty’s and his facial markings match hers. His legs and tail are solid black.
Personality: Skittish, afraid of his own shadow. He’s extremely socially awkward and gets nervous talking with others, especially pretty girls. He tries to come off as more macho and brave than he actually is, but ends up making a fool of himself. He’s sensitive and takes a lot of things to heart. He tends to follow people around like a little duckling, which he often did with Balto when the two became friends, and Dixie when they first started seeing each other. He’s a big sweetie with a heart of gold, and deeply cares about others.
Likes: Dixie, being Balto’s friend, alone time, sleeping, taking walks, getting belly rubs, performing tricks
Dislikes: The heat, bears, ice, getting wet, car rides, trips to the vet, thunder
History: Kobuk was born in Nome to two purebred Siberian Huskies. He was the youngest and most timid of the litter, usually following his older sister Mitzi around. He was adopted at eight weeks old, and was so upset to be separated from his family that he actually cried on adoption day. However, he soon adjusted to his home and learned to love his owner, Roger. He followed Roger wherever he went, and thus received the nickname “Shadow.”
As he got a bit older, Kobuk fell for Jenna, the prettiest dog in Nome. He wanted to get to know her more, but was scared out of his mind to talk to her. However, with Mitzi’s encouragement, he finally mustered up the courage to talk to his crush. It was very obvious how nervous he was, but Jenna was still kind to him. As impressed as he was with her beauty, Kobuk found that his favorite thing about Jenna was how kind she was to everyone she talked to. After that event, Kobuk continued to talk to Jenna more, but always brought Mitzi as his wingwoman since he was usually terrified. Jenna could tell how much Kobuk liked her, and felt bad because she only saw Kobuk as a friend. He just wasn’t her type. He was sweet and all, but seemed like he couldn’t even defend himself against a cat. However, as afraid as she was to let him down, Jenna still continued to talk and be friendly with Kobuk, trying to make it clear she wasn’t interested in a relationship, but Kobuk didn’t really get the hint.
After the Serum Run, news spread around the dogs of Nome that Jenna was officially going out with Balto. Kobuk was devastated that he had lost the girl of his dreams, and even though Mitzi told him to move on, he just couldn’t seem to get over Jenna. But one day, he ran into one of Jenna’s friends: a Pomeranian named Dixie. Dixie herself was recovering from her own heartbreak; she had spent so many years loving Steele, only to find out he was a selfish jerk. The two bonded over their shared failures in the love department, and Kobuk found himself talking to Dixie a lot and eventually developing feelings for her. Dixie herself started to like Kobuk, thinking he was “rugged and handsome.” Eventually, the two dogs became mates and had a daughter. This was around the same time Mitzi found a mate and had a litter of her own, one of her puppies being Dusty.
Meanwhile, Kobuk remained good friends with Jenna, and also became good friends with Balto. Kobuk liked to follow Balto around a lot since he thought Balto was the coolest dog ever; Balto sometimes got a little annoyed but never turned down his friend. As they got older, Kobuk and Jenna would often laugh about how huge of a crush Kobuk had on her back in the day.
Relation to Balto: Dixie’s mate, Dusty’s uncle, Balto’s friend
