History: Jean-Claude was born in Quebec, a French-speaking region in Canada, so he understood both English and French growing up, and he speaks with a French accent. He was the pet of a humble carpenter named Louis, to whom he was extremely loyal. He was very popular amongst the dogs in his area, and was especially popular with the ladies, having gone through many girlfriends.
When he was an adult, he and his owner moved to Nome, Alaska, where there was a good-paying carpenter job available for Louis. Jean-Claude was sad to leave the only home he had ever known, but once he arrived in Nome, he grew an interest in dogsledding after watching some of the dogsled races that happened in town. When two spots opened up on Nome’s mail team, Jean-Claude entered himself in the race to determine who the new dogs on the team would be. This is where he met Saba, the beautiful sister of Kodi, who was the lead dog of the team. Unfortunately, Jean-Claude didn’t win the race, but he was used time and time again as a substitute dog whenever one of the full-time team members wasn’t available for a mail run. However, even though he didn’t win the race, he won something even better: Saba’s heart. The two of them had clicked instantly and were very much in love with each other. They loved going on romantic dates, and Jean-Claude always enjoyed spoiling Saba rotten.
Some tough times fell upon the new couple when Jean-Claude was threatened by some of the other male dogs in Nome who had loved Saba and were jealous that the newcomer in town had taken her away from them. Some dogs even tried to physically hurt Jean-Claude, and one time when Saba tried to protect her boyfriend from the evil dogs, she got badly injured by one of them. Jean-Claude felt guilty, believing it was his fault Saba got hurt. However, Saba assured him that it wasn’t, and that she would always lay herself on the line for him. It was in this moment when they decided to become mates. Eventually, they had two litters of puppies who Jean-Claude spoiled as much as he spoiled his mate.
Relation to Balto: Balto’s son-in-law (Saba’s mate)
