Appearance: Iron is a tall, muscular wolfdog and is also the only one in his immediate family to have gray fur. His entire face is gray except for his muzzle and cheeks, which are cream-colored like his belly and legs. His front leg markings look like his aunt Aleu’s, while his back leg markings resemble his grandfather Steele’s. His ears are also a cream color, and they are shaded pink on the inside. He has auburn eyes. His tail curls upward.
Personality: Iron is a big people-pleaser and is secretly not confident in himself. He tries in vain to be like his older, cooler brother Dakota but this often doesn’t go as planned. Over time, he learns it is best to just be himself. Iron is very quiet and mellow, and a bit of a dreamer. He’s often thinking and wondering about things. Like his father, he’s a bit socially awkward and isn’t as good with words as Dakota. He’s a bit shy at first, but once you get to know him, he isn’t so reserved. He doesn’t like to fight, but sometimes resorts to violence quicker than he should.
Likes: Eska, running, sleeping, being liked by others, eating, meat, laying by the fireplace, having deep conversations
Dislikes: His awkwardness, blizzards, baths, being wet
History: Iron was the second pup to be born in Kiska and Tungsten’s second litter. Growing up, he looked up to his older brothers Dakota, Kenai, and Ferric, but Dakota in particular. At eight weeks old, he and Dakota were both adopted by the musher of one of Nome’s racing teams, who was aware of the pups’ lineage and strong build and sure they would make great sled dogs.
As they got older, Iron tended to follow the more confident Dakota like a duckling. Dakota was annoyed at first, but eventually got used to it and figured he could take his shy younger brother under his wing. Sticking around Dakota helped Iron learn how to act “cool,” although it never came naturally for him like it did for Dakota. However, Iron continued the facade because he saw that he was attracting more dogs towards him. He tried his best not to show his true, awkward self because he feared the other dogs wouldn’t like the real him.
When he reached to be around two years of age, a beautiful husky named Eska moved into town with her owner. Iron instantly fell head over paws for her and knew he needed to muster up some confidence and get to know him more. So, after a race, Iron went up to her and started talking to her. He asked if she enjoyed the race, to which she said yes, and added, “I hear lots of great things about that dog Dakota on your team, but I’m not sure which one he is.” Without even thinking, Iron replied, “That’s me!” and before he knew it, was living a lie that eventually started to take a life of it’s own. After everything spiraled out of control, Iron learned an important lesson: it’s important to just be yourself. And thankfully, Eska still gave him a chance, saying she wanted to get to know the real him.
