Name: Naira
Age: About 4 years younger than Aleu and Kodi
Species: 7/8 Siberian Husky, 1/8 Wolf
Appearance: Naira’s fur color is a lighter and brighter shade of red and white than Kiska’s. She has a bulkier, more wolflike build similar to Balto and Aleu’s, and she’s taller than the average female. She has Steele and Tungsten’s angular facial structure, and her facial markings march Steele’s. Her leg markings match her aunt Aleu’s. Her tail curls upward like both of her parents and she has auburn eyes.
Siblings: Kenai, Spica, Ferric (first litter) // Dakota, Iron, Maya, Alasie, Luken, Kala (second litter)
Mate: TBA
Pups: TBA
Personality: Naira is a quiet and cautious girl who is rather insecure about herself. She doesn’t like how masculine she looks compared to the other girls in her family and wishes she was more daintier and not as tall. She’s a bit of a klutz. She’s very determined, though, and works hard to prove herself, especially when the boy dogs in Nome think she can’t do the same things they do since she’s a girl. She’s quite tomboyish and would prefer to run and play games than get pampered. She’s not one for gossip, and like her mother, can’t stand superficiality. She’s a bit sarcastic, and sometimes doesn’t know when to hold her tongue. She is very caring though and would do anything for those she loves.
Likes: Running, exploring, the summer, sunsets, the beach, swimming, belly rubs
Dislikes: Her wolf-like build, being tall, Steele, superficiality, being underestimated since she’s a girl
History: Naira was the second-oldest pup in Kiska and Tungsten’s litter. She was quite a strong puppy, a trait she inherited from her father’s side of the family. At eight weeks she was adopted by a lumberjack, and when she was big enough her owner used her to pull trees on a sled into Nome. Naira was proud of her job but as she grew older, she noticed she was a lot more “boyish” than the girl dogs. She never cared about being groomed and didn’t fawn over boys like the other girl dogs — although she secretly wished at least one boy dog would take an interest in her, but they all saw her as “one of the guys.” Naira began to wonder if something was wrong with her.
A lot of the popular dogs in Nome began to look down upon Naira, making her feel even more insecure about herself. Despite reassurance and acceptance from her friends and family, the one excitable wolf dog began to grow more reserved and and self-contained. Her family grew concerned for her, particularly her brother Kenai who was closest with her. Eventually, when Naira was one and a half, her estranged grandfather Steele came to Nome, appearing to want to make up for his past mistakes and finally get to know his grandpups. He noticed Naira was insecure about herself and gave her attention and affection, but Naira eventually found out Steele was just using her to get closer to Kiska — whom he wanted to kill because he was mad at her for infiltrating his bloodline with wolf blood. Naira was deeply hurt, and decided to turn to her real grandfather Balto, knowing that he understood what it was like to be different from everyone. Balto assured her that there was nothing wrong with her, and that being different was not only okay, but that it made her unique and special.
Relation to Balto: Balto’s granddaughter
