Personality: a jovial and strong older brother of Balto. Very protective.

 Bio/History:  Canek is a wise, easy-going, and spiritual wolfdog. He is the protective “older” brother to Balto, who was the runt of their litter. When their mother passed away, leaving them alone, she left her pups at the outskirts of Nome, hoping they would find humans and be accepted there. Quite the opposite happened, especially with the pup Steele and his family. 

Balto was especially subject to harassment. Canek would frequently come to his rescue. the dogs of the town feared his wild ferocity. When Canek reached adolescence, he was confronted with a wolf pack from the wild. They could hardly tell he had dog blood in him, and offered to let the rogue stay in their pack. Canek didn’t want to make the decision without talking to his brother, first. 

Balto didn’t like the idea, and wanted badly to be accepted by the dogs and townsfolk of Nome. He especially wanted the husky Jenna’s attention. Canek feared leaving his brother alone… but he wanted to live a life that had peacefulness rather than constant hatred. 

Canek ultimately decides to join the pack, but continues to visit Balto regularly. (I like to think that wolves Balto sees in the first movie is his pack.) He often tries to get Balto to join him to this day.
