Name: Atka
Age: About 4 years younger than Kodi
Species: 7/8 Siberian Husky, 1/8 Wolf
Siblings: Prudhoe, Kivalina, and Willow
Mate: Zoey
Pups: TBA
Appearance: Atka takes after Dusty’s side of the family mostly. He has gray fur like his mother, but his fur is a tad darker and without the purplish tint. His facial and lag markings also match Dusty. However, he does have some of Kodi’s traits, such as his brown eyes, flown tail, and athletic body build. Some of his most unique features are three dark stripes that run across his back, as well as a dark gray soul patch on his chin.
Personality: He is very charming and polite, and is extremely courteous with girls. He has a dry, witty sense of humor and is pretty sarcastic. He can be a bit oblivious, but he’s actually quite intelligent. He’s a big softie deep down inside, but doesn’t like to show it. However, he really is affectionate and caring, and is also extremely loyal and will go to great lengths to help a friend. He’s not very ambitious, and can be pretty lazy.
Likes: Having free time, relaxing, exploring, eating, running, playing, snow, flirting, watching races
Dislikes: Stuffy people, being lost, being forced to do something he doesn’t want to, showing his vulnerable side
History: Atka was the second pup to be born in Kodi and Dusty’s litter. Despite coming from a line of sled dogs, Atka showed many signs from a young age that he didn’t have the personality needed to be a sled dog. He was pretty close with everyone in his family, but particularly Kivalina since the two of them were the only members of their immediate family who showed no interest in dogsledding. At eight weeks old, Atka was adopted by a thirty-something man who lived near the edge of town close to the wilderness and made a living off of trading furs.
Growing up, Atka lived a pretty normal life. Where he lived was more secluded, so whenever he felt lonely he would travel to the busier parts of town to spend time with his friends and family. Though he still wasn’t interested in being a sled dog, he did enjoy watching races. He continued to stay close to Kivalina, as he sensed that she felt left out and neglected by her family, particularly Kodi, whom she felt favored their sister Willow over her.
At around age two, Atka and Kivalina got into a fight because in a fit of rage and jealousy, Kivalina injured Willow the night before a big race Willow had been training for. Atka stood up for Willow and put Kivalina in her place, and stormed off home. Once he arrived back at his owner’s house, he heard some interesting news: gold had been found somewhere in the outskirts of Nome. Now, people were on the hunt for gold, including Atka’s owner. Soon, Atka was swept into the Alaskan wilderness with his human to search for treasure, but the adventure proved to be difficult. Atka and his human got caught in a snowstorm, and Atka even had to rescue his human and some other people after they got snowed in. Along the journey, Atka befriended a female dog from White Mountain named Zoey whose owner was also in search for gold, and Atka felt a warm and fuzzy feeling inside of him whenever the two of them interacted. However, after the hunt for gold was over, Zoey and her owner returned home to White Mountain, leaving Atka saddened for a while.
As Atka returned home himself, he went to apologize to Kivalina for yelling at her, and the two made up after he learned that Kivalina had made up with Willow as well. Atka was glad to be back home and on good terms with his sister, but he often wondered if he would ever see Zoey again…
Relation to Balto: Balto’s grandson (Kodi and Dusty’s son)
