Species: Siberian Husky
Siblings: Cobalt and Silver
Mate: Kiska
Pups: Kenai, Naira, Spica, Ferric (first litter) // Dakota, Iron, Maya, Alasie, Luken, Kala (second litter)
Appearance: He is extremely tall and muscular for a husky, and is often mistaken for a malamute. His main pelt is black, while his underbelly is a bright white. His facial markings are like Steele’s, except the “point” on his forehead extends all the way back to a lining of white fur around his neck. His ears are white as well. He has ice blue eyes. He looks a lot like Steele but does not have an aggressive look to him.
Personality: He’s pretty much the exact opposite of Steele personality-wise. He’s kind and caring, and extremely loyal to all his friends. Once you’re his buddy, he’s got your back for life. He’s also very outgoing and thrives off of social interaction, but he is a bit socially awkward at times. He’s very sweet and goes out of his way to let others know he cares about them. He’s got a goofy side to him, and sometimes acts like a really giant puppy. He doesn’t like to fight but is willing to do so in order to protect himself or his loved ones. He is ashamed to be related to Steele, and hates when people associate him with Steele.
Likes: Kiska, running, his family, social interaction, hanging in the boiler room, being on the mail team, puppies and children
Dislikes: His father, when people associate him with Steele, cheaters, liars, blizzards, Nero
History: Tungsten was the middle child of Steele and Jolie, and was the only one of his litter who didn’t inherit his father’s cruel personality. Because of this, Steele believed Tungsten was “soft-minded” and essentially worthless, and he resented him while treating his other two pups as his prized possessions. As Tungsten grew older, Steele became increasingly disappointed in him, and threatened to kill him, believing he was a waste of an offspring. After hearing this, Jolie physically fought Steele, and in a state of rage, Steele ran off on his family. It was the last time Tungsten would ever see his father until adulthood.
Seeing that Tungsten had the strong build of a sled dog, Tungsten’s owner trained him and eventually put him on a sled team. After two and a half years, Tungsten was swapped with another dog and brought to Nome. He was interested in being on Nome’s mail team, and became the newest member of the team along with Balto’s daughter, Kiska. Tungsten quickly made friends with the other dogs on the team, but he clicked the most with Kiska. Eventually, they developed feelings for each other, but Balto forbade his daughter from seeing him after overhearing two mushers talk about how Tungsten was the offspring of Steele.
Tungsten was hurt that Balto assumed he was as evil as his father. Things went even more south for him when he began to get shunned by other dogs around town for the same reason. Kiska was one of the only few dogs left who still trusted him and saw him for who he really was. They still had feelings for each other, and made the decision to start dating in secret. Their plan seemed foolproof until Balto found out. He almost attacked Tungsten, and his relationship with Kiska became severed. It wasn’t until Tungsten rescued Balto from a bear fight when Balto realized Tungsten was not his father; Balto apologized for his prejudice towards Tungsten and finally allowed him to date his daughter. Eventually, Tungsten and Kiska became mates and had two litters of pups.
Sometime while Kiska was pregnant with her second litter, Steele arrived back into Nome after hearing somehow that Tungsten lived there. He initially seemed remorseful at first for his past actions, and initially Tungsten wanted to believe his father had changed. But it was soon revealed that the reason Steele had come back to Nome was because he wanted to kill Kiska for infiltrating his bloodline with “wolf blood.” He was about to attack Kiska and her unborn puppies when Balto and Jenna came in the nick of time and chased Steele out. Tungsten never heard from his father again, and nobody knew what became of Steele. Tungsten was hurt that his father hadn’t changed after all, but was grateful for Balto and realized that Balto was more like a father to him than Steele ever was.
Relation to Balto: Steele's son, and the mate of Balto's daughter
