Name: Dingo
Nickname(s): Ding Dong (by Yukon when teasing him)
Gender: Male
Age: Same as Kodi and Aleu
Species: 3/4 Siberian Husky, 1/4 Wolf
Siblings: Kiska, Kodi, Yukon, Aleu, and Saba
Mate: Cady
Pups: Molly, Chase, Lainey, Milo, Gracie
Appearance: Dingo looks a lot like Balto but with more dog-like features. His fur is much darker and browner than Jenna’s (he could be mistaken for brown, although in reality he is just a very dark red), although his eye color is identical to that of his mother’s. His facial markings are similar to, but not exactly like, Jenna’s. His front leg markings are like Balto’s but don’t go as low, but his hind leg markings match Balto’s. His tail is flowy like Balto’s, but does curl a bit awkwardly at the tip. He is built like Balto but frailer and less athletic. His fur is also very thin and scruffy like his father’s, and he is the only one of his siblings to have prominent freckles on his face.
Personality: Dingo is definitely the most timid and reserved pup out of the litter. However, despite his shyness, he is still well liked among the dogs of Nome because of his sweet, caring personality. He doesn’t have much confidence in himself, mainly because he wishes he could be heroic like his dad or brave like his siblings. He doesn’t have very thick skin, which is seen when he often takes Yukon’s jokes to heart, even if his older brother means well. He does have a heart of gold, though, and deeply cares about his loved ones. He is a bit skittish.
Likes: Chewing his owner’s socks, his family, peace and quiet, sunny days, sleeping, his owners
Dislikes: Chaos, his insecurities, being smothered, being the center of attention, being put in fearful situations, thunderstorms, baths
History: Dingo was the youngest pup in Balto and Jenna’s litter. As a puppy, he was very playful and excitable, and had a thing for chewing on socks. He was a big mama’s boy and was extremely close with Jenna, although he loved his father as well. He was especially happy to get adopted by a boy who was good friends with Rosy, so every time the boy would have playdates with Rosy, he would bring Dingo along so Dingo could spend time with Jenna. Additionally, he was close with the boy’s father; the man had served in WWI and suffered a lot psychologically, but Dingo helped bring him joy.
But as he reached his adolescent years, Dingo’s chipper personality faded and he became much more quiet and unconfident in himself. His main reason for lacking confidence was because everyone else in his family had something to be proud of — his father saved the town, Kodi was on the mail team, and Aleu was the leader of a wolf pack — but what about him? He was just an ordinary house pet. He loved being a pet, and was extremely loyal to his boy, but wished he could be something more.
As he grew older, he became less and less confident, and more reserved. The dogs around town still liked him for his kind personality, but Balto and Jenna were concerned for their youngest pup. They wanted to help Dingo see that he didn’t need to perform some heroic feat to prove his worth — his kind heart was what truly made him special. Over time, Dingo realized his parents were right; he brought joy to everyone around him, and that in itself was a great feat. Dingo was glad to have his confidence back, although he continued to remain humble and on the quiet-side. His confidence was especially boosted when he met Cady, a sweet young husky who always helped him to feel loved. They eventually became mates and had five puppies of their own.
Relation to Balto: Balto’s son
