Artemisa is the sister of Balto, but unlike balto, she stayed with their mother Aniu, learning the ways of being someone's spirit guardian. Artemisa knows where Balto is and when their mother passed on, she wandered to Nome and found him, Balto had no idea who she was, eventually Art befriended alot of the dogs of Nome, one in particular caught her eye, Koak, they would meet at the lake every night. She was warned that Koak would probably hurt her, but she ignored the warnings and continued seeing him, well she became pregnant and when she did, she had a litter with him, then Koak vanished leaving her and her puppies alone. Art was devestated and had to raise her children on her own. Soon enough she met Tamu, another lost soul like herself, well it ended the same way Koak did, he ended up leaving her soon after to.

Artemisa lives in the woods near Nome on occasion she will go into town to see her brother or her friends, she prefers being alone as her heart may never recover. One day while in town visiting her brother, she was attacked by some stray wolves and a male wolf managed to chase them off, his name was Apollo and he wouldn't leave her alone he was persistent, kept coming to see her. One day they got into a disagreement and she ran into town and Apollo ran off. Well she heard about a bear attack outside of town and ran and got there just in time to attack the bear and drive it away from Apollo. Apollo was hurt and Art took him back to town to the vet and helped nurse him back to himself and started developing feelings for him.
