History

History

Totem and Leo were born to Cougar, a famous sled dog, and Clover, a breeding dog. Totem was much smaller then his brother. Cougar neglected the family and only met his two sons once. Never the less, Leo idolized him, much to Totem's disgust. Clover cared most about Leo and pushed her smaller son aside. Leo endlessly bullied Totem. Making him less and less confident. Even though Totem was small, he was fast. Therefore, when he was old enough, a musher bought Totem and put him on a team that pulled supplies over the mountain. Totem was jealous of his snotty brother who became the lead dog of a racing team. Whenever he could, Totem would go for long runs in the forest. It helped him get away from all the troubles at home. One day when he was out running, he sighted a mother deer with her fawn. Totem decided to stalk it just for the fun of it. He surprised the mother deer and the mother and fawn took off, only for the fawn to stumble. Just before Totem jumped onto the fawns back, something attacked him and knocked him into the ground. The fawn scrambled to its feet and ran away. Totem looked up to see he was being pinned by a white wolf. The white wolf, who's name was Aniu, scolded him for hunting a healthy fawn for no reason at all. Aniu told Totem never to come back again, and Totem slipped away to run back home. However, something about the white wolf intrigued him, and he returned to the place where he almost caught the deer the next day. Once he arrived he was surprised to find Aniu there already, as if she was waiting for him. Much to Totem's surprise, Aniu didn't chase him away. Instead they sat and talked until dusk. Totem journeyed to the same spot almost every day, and a special bond formed. Totem had never felt that way towards anyone, and he knew he had to tell Aniu that he loved her. The next day, when he did, Aniu did not seem shocked. She said that she felt the same way. A month later, Aniu was expecting pups. She was not visibly pregnant yet, and she told Totem that she would have to take a mate other than him in her pack to make her pregnancy look legitimate to her father, the leader of the pack. Aniu explained that having pups with a dog, wolf outside pack, or cheating on your mate was a crime punishable by death. The wolf she picked from her clan was Kelto, a big, black wolf. Aniu gave birth to three healthy pups. The oldest and strongest was a pale cream she wolf who Aniu named Sasha. The second pup was a brown male who was named Balto. The last pup was a grey-brown pup that was named Adrian. The pups were raised for awhile by Kelto and Aniu. It drove Totem crazy; not being able to see Aniu. One faithful day, Totem journeyed to the play where he had met Aniu. To his surprise, a few wolves from Aniu's pack were already there. They captured Totem and dragged him to the Seaside pack (Aniu's pack) base to see Chava, the leader, Aniu's father. Totem was brought before him, and he sentenced Totem to death for trespassing on wolf hunting grounds.   To everyone's surprise, Aniu cried out not to kill Totem. She jumped up on the rock next to her father and revealed to everyone that Totem was her mate and the father of her pups. Aniu to was sentenced to death. Before she was to be killed, she delivered a powerful speech to the pack about love. She told everyone that she felt no guilt for she truly loved Totem. While everyone was hushed by her speech, she broke free and hurled herself over a cliff into the sea, committing suicide. Totem, heartbroken and outraged, managed to also break free. Before fleeing, Totem mortally wounded Chava, throwing the pack into shock. When Totem was home, he stopped talking. He had lost his passion, his everything. But one day, when Totem was aimlessly strolling the alleyways of Nome, he saw his brother Leo and his gang beating up a female silver chow malamute mix. Totem suddenly felt Aniu's presence there, telling him to defend the chow malamute mix. Totem listened to Aniu and attacked Leo, defending the victim. Leo threw Totem to the ground, and Totem and the chow malamute mix ran into the alleys. When they slowed down, the mix revealed to Totem that her name was Claire. After awhile, Totem and Claire became good friends. Claire developed stronger feelings towards Totem. Totem and Claire became mates. Totem loved Claire, but not like he loved Aniu. Pretty soon, Claire was pregnant. A few nights before Claire and Totem's pup was born, Totem went out in the alleys late at night to get some fresh air. Totem met a female pure white husky named Jewel. Totem was instantly smitten by her. They spent that night together, and they bred. When Totem awoke, he felt horribly guilty and fled home, promising himself never to talk about what happened. Two days later, Claire gave birth to a single pup. He was brown and fluffy. Totem and Claire named him Nikki. Totem loved his new family, but he became obsessed with finding out what happened to the other one. One night, Totem journeyed to the forest where he had met Aniu. Once he entered the territory, Totem ran into Kelto, Aniu's other mate and the new leader of the pack. They fought, and Kelto was winning. Totem fled, with Kelto hot on his heels. Totem scrambled up a rocky hill, accidentally toppling over some boulders. The boulders tumbled down the hill, crushing and killing Kelto. Horrified at what he had done, Totem fled. Totem and Claire raised Nikki, and he became a racing dog. Much to Totem's disapproval, the lead dog, named Steele, was Leo's son. Totem soon retired. When diphtheria broke out, Totem was pleased that Nikki was chosen to be on the sled team to fetch the medicine. Totem was surprised when a wolf dog brought back the medicine. With a huge shock, Totem realized the wolf dog was his and Aniu's son, Balto. Totem decided not to tell Balto. After the serum run, a new sled dog started to work his way up the ranks. The dog's name was Blaze. He was popular, and he was quite a show off. He was quick and a bit smaller. One day when Blaze finished a race. A white female husky walked over and congratulated Blaze. Totem recognized the white husky as Jewel. Totem asked one of Blaze's teammates who Jewel was in relation to Blaze. He told Totem that Jewel was Blaze's mother. Later that day, Totem confronted Jewel, who confirmed that Totem was Blaze's father. At that moment, Blaze showed up, and asked what they were talking about. Jewel hatefully told Blaze that Totem was his father. Blaze didn't really seem to care, and he walked away, giving Totem poisonous looks. Totem got older and older. He befriended a small black and white husky she pup. Her name was Aurora. They were very close, and Totem found out that her adopted father was Blaze, his son. Blaze hated it when Aurora would talk to Totem, but she went anyway. One day, Totem became very very sick. He knew he didn't have much time left. Totem went to the boat where Balto lived, and he confessed to Balto about being his father and told him the story about Aniu. With that, he left. Totem went throughout the town bidding goodbye to everybody. After he said goodbye to everyone, Totem started his last journey to the forest. When he reached the meadow where he had met Aniu, he laid down. By that time, it was dark. Totem looked up at the stars one last time, and closed his eyes, and he slipped away. Totem had died.
