Personality - Extremely excitable and happy-go-lucky. Has a hard time paying attention for long periods of time. Is always super energetic, and has plenty to burn. Is very clumsy though, due to his energy and excitability. Has a very affable nature and loves talking to others. Dislikes - When the team fights, being stuck in harsh weather, when other teams cheat, losing.
Biography -
Icarus came from a small time breeder who had found success in selling puppies to mushers. He was one of the many pups his parents ended up having, and was in a considerably large litter. One would think he'd go unnoticed, and this would be the case despite the fact that Icarus caused the most trouble. He had too much energy for his own good, and had a habit of destroying his owner's items. His excitable ways continued to plague him when the time came to be adopted. Most mushers were put off by the spastic splash-coated husky, and chose his calmer siblings instead. This changed when one showed up, oddly, with a young black husky by his side. After conversing with Icarus' breeder, the husky entered the pen. Icarus rushed up to meet the considerably taller young dog, and ended up nearly crashing into him. The dark husky looked over his shoulder to the musher he'd arrived with, then back to Icarus with a smirk. The next thing Icarus knew, he was walking alongside the husky, looking over his shoulder as he walked farther away from his siblings.
Icarus arrived in Fairbanks, and was momentarily taken under Chase's wing as he was introduced to the rest of the team. He stopped paying attention after he first saw Zero. He thought she was the most beautiful thing in the world, even in his young age. From that day on, he completely forgot about Chase and instead spent as much time as he could with Zero. At first, she loathed him and often found excuses to get away from him and this left Icarus heartbroken. This was intensified when the order for the sled team was finalized, and he was paired with Zero. As the weeks went on though, Icarus saw another side to her that the rest of the team probably didn't know about. Zero was actually very warm and lighthearted, she just used her tough exterior to keep others as distant as possible. Icarus and Zero became a couple after this, and were often teased by the rest of the team for them being so young. Icarus and Zero couldn't care less, Icarus actually loved the teasing because it meant others knew about their love for each other.
When the races began, Icarus finally found a good use for his energy. Being in the back meant that the brunt of the weight was off of him, and on Chase, Archie, and everyone else ahead of hm. This motivated Icarus to run as fast as he could to ease the pressure off of his teammates. Zero said that is didn't really matter, but this didn't change Icarus' opinion on the matter. The team quickly rose to fame, and despite some rocky races, they had embarked on an ambitious winning streak. Before every race, Icarus had made a custom of pumping everyone up no matter how much they complained. After every race, Icarus had done the same, even as others were winding down. Wizard would often be out on the town, Gizmo, Cheyenne and Penny would be out exploring the town. Ramone couldn't be bothered to join the group. This left Chase, Archie, Zero and Icarus alone to socialize together. To his surprise and delight, they all became rather close. Archie and Chase especially, despite starting off on the wrong foot.
After the season was over, the team returned to Fairbanks. When they were all together, Icarus noted that their personalities often clashed. Chase didn't care what others thought, Archie cared immensely. Gizmo was nearly mute, Cheyenne could barely keep her mouth shut. Penny was helpful and considerate, Ramone seemed to loathe everyone. Wizard was in a league of his own. Icarus even began to notice the differences between he and Zero. She was solid and steadfast, he was ever-changing. Instead of being concerned by this, Icarus was actually thrilled. He thought that differences makes everything stronger, and that certainly explained not only he and Zero, but the team as a whole. They were a family, a dysfunctional one, yes, but a family nonetheless. Otherwise, the off seasons were as eventful as the on-season. Icarus never stopped moving, and whenever anyone asked if he wanted to train, he said yes. He and Zero even added two pups to their family on one off-season.
The season after he and Zero expanded their family, a new promotional race was introduced. The winner would recieve a substantial cash sum, and a golden collar. The team was entered, and actually considered to be underdogs; something they hadn't been called since the begining. The race was long, hard, and filled with cheating teams, but after some time, it was clear they'd be the winners. Icarus was ecstatic as he watched the collar being slung across Chase's neck, and was the first of the team to congratulate the black husky. As he had in their first meeting, he nearly crashed into Chase, which ushered the same smirk it had the first time as well.
The good times rolled for a few more seasons until a fateful practice run. It was one of the last practice runs of the season, and it would be one of the shorter ones ; only a few miles out of Fairbanks. Only about a mile out, Icarus stumbled to a halt, crashing into Cheyenne as the team rolled to a halt. He tried to get a look at why they'd stopped so suddenly. He could hear Archie and Chase feverishly whispering to each other, but he couldn't make out what. A horrible, earsplitting roar was all the response he needed before fear shot through his heart. Seconds later, he heard a screech, another roar, and from the corner of his eye, he saw Chase speeding off, looking back as Archie called after him. Icarus looked to Zero, whose fur was fluffed up. Whatever was happening was horrible, and it might reach them. He couldn't let anything happen to her. Thankfully, he didn't have to as Chase returned, and Wizard hauled the team out of danger. Icarus couldn't help but look over his shoulder as they ran off, and Chase stood in front of the bear as it swung at him. He forced himself to look away.
Once back at the kennel, Icarus tried to cheer up the team. Nobody really listened, but this didn't stop Icarus until their fallen teammates returned. As reality fell down on them, Icarus had to excuse himself outside. Instead of getting some fresh air, he ran into Chase's mate, who looked pertrified and was asking for answers. Icarus was speechless, and went back inside. The team was forever changed; Chase and Gizmo were dead, and Archie would never race again. They needed replacements, and to Icarus' chagrin, the old team was split up. Thankfully, he was sold along with Zero. Sadly, they were sold to a large kennel who only assembled teams for events. This was alright, Icarus said, at least they were still together. They were exhibited on nearly every event team, as they'd risen to acclaim along with the rest of their old team.
Due to the kennel being so large, and having so many dogs, illnesses often went undetected for long periods of time. The dog in the cage next to Icarus and Zero came down with a nasty cough, and it wasn't long before they did too. A vet was called in, and they were quarentined with kennel cough. The sickness was harsh, but as always Icarus did his best to keep the spirits up. This changed one morning when he woke up and Zero didn't. Icarus gave up, he'd lost his one thing to live for now, and passed away quietly later that day.
