Personality:

ahhh..where to begin with this guy. He's just the crankiest old coot ever. While all his siblings have relatively nice personalities, he's the divergent.

He barely ever talks and when he does, it's in grunts and very dry humor, coupled with sarcastic jabs. You don't really know what he's actually said until it hits you later. Usually it's an insult.

He can also be a big downer on everyone's parade. Somehow he always seems to stick to the glass half-empty philosophy.

But was he always like this?

Oh no no, he was a cutie pie as a puppy, as most puppies are. Growing up just gave him a rather sour disposition. He also keeps mentioning something about being overlooked and forgotten..or something like that....

Hardly anyone ever listens when he talks anyway, he's just that depressing.

Mercer is a very grumpy, self-centered, and quiet guy. He and Byron's relationship is very unhealthy, and they can stand the sight of each other. Mercer tries desperately to get closer to his only Sister, Sydney. Sydney and Mercer develop a particularly strong bond, and he begins to change a little, trying to remain optimistic. When Sydney and her team get lost in a blizzard, and Sydney is believed to have died from drowning, Mercer's pessimistic attitude returns, and he begins to twist into a dark, demented, and mysterious kind of guy. Grace(Nuc's character), whom he meets whilst wandering the wilds in search of Sydney, tries to figure him out,but he refuses to acknowledge her. Grace and Mercer eventually become friends, although Mercer thinks she's playing at something and doesn't fully trust her yet. Along their travels, they eventually come across Sydney, who is accompanied by Nathaniel (Bipolar). Mercer tries to persuade Sydney to come back to Nome with him, but refuses. Mercer returns to Nome disappointed, but relieved to know his sister is alive. He keeps the news locked in his head and decides to not tell the others. Grace develops a love interest for Mercer.
