Good traits: Dune is a very willing hybrid, and enjoys learning. Is a very loyal pet to Duke. Can also be affectionate. Proves to be very sweet to Imila and Dawna. He used to be a very happy canine when he was younger. Is very kind and sweet to those he loves and cares about.
Bad traits: Dune has a bad habit of isolating himself from other dogs for long periods of time. He also gets horrible bipolar mood swings. Has a bit of a sadistic side to him as well and has a tendency to make his enemies suffer as long and painful as possible. Can come off as moody a lot of the time due to how quiet he is. He sometimes loses the will to speak English or he simply forgets, causing him to shun away from others. Can be shy.
How they express happiness: It's very hard to tell when Dune is at his extreme levels of happiness. At most, he'll wag his tail a few times and if you're lucky, he'll give a lick. To express neutral happiness, he tilts his head and smiles. Also tends to stutter when he's happy.
How they express anger: As his anger can be out of control at times, Dune can prove to be a very aggressive canine. If he feels threatened, he will snarl and lash out. Though Dune isn't a very skilled fighter and can easily be outmatched, he can give a very nasty bite if furious.
How they express sadness: Dune gets very needy when he's sad and almost always seeks out others to comfort him. Can't ever seem to rely on himself, and gets afraid of being alone when a depressing situation pops up.
How they express fear: Dune is the type that would attack out of fear, which gets him into trouble a lot of the time as he is actually quite the timid hybrid. He hardly ever shows fear and it's extremely hard to tell when he's scared. Though you may see him occasionally flinch or cringe.

Backstory

Dune was born into Balto's first litter (and Jenna's second) of six. He was shy, and quiet along with his brother Saba. Though he did enjoy all of his siblings, being closest to Saba and Aleu (even if he didn't like her singing). The other puppies were just too wild and weird for him. He was smiley though, and went along with the others. He loved going to the beach and having a normal puppy life. He wasn't jealous at all of how Balto favored Aleu as a child, and just assumed it was a natural thing. Nothing really bothered him too much. When adoption day came, he was a little bit timid of being adopted, but he was surprisingly the second to be adopted just after his brother, Dingo was adopted. Dune was adopted by a 10 year old girl named Marianne. Since he was adopted, Dune hadn't spent any time with his siblings. Marianne adored Dune, and was a great owner for him. She was always on the go, and Dune was a very energetic pup, so the two went together well. Though Marianne couldn't seem to break the shyness he had. He was a friendly dog, but at loud noises, he would cringe and hide, doing the same around strangers. He wasn't very good at listening to commands, either. But at least he wasn't very destructive because he was always busy with Marianne. As Dune grew a few months, Marianne was told that they were moving to a different country. But of course, she couldn't leave Dune and took him along with her. Her family was financially comfortable, and Marianne's father was a pilot. He owned his own bush plane. Before they knew it, they were off to France.

Dune had trouble adapting to the new area. It didn't have much snow, and he was confined to a small yard. He was in his teenage years, so he only had a few things on his mind. Beings he was a wolfdog; running, girls, and hunting instinct. Marianne didn't spend as much time with him anymore either as she was starting to grow up. The tiny family had already been in France for two years. Marianne was busy with friends and school more than usual and Dune was tired of being put aside. Digging out of the picket fenced yard, he set out to explore. Though, much to his disappointment, there weren't any dogs around. The streets were also crowded, so Dune's instinct was to stay in the alleyways. As he got to the busier parts in the main city, he caught scent of a group of dogs. He approached them, his attention being drawn to the female. He sniffed her, but was growled at by a few male dobermans. He didn't refuse their challenge, and lunged at one of them, ferociously attacking. The doberman didn't stand a chance against the stronger wolfdog, and died as Dune bit into its throat. He couldn't stop himself, as the taste of blood set something off inside of him. The other two dobermans pinned him down and began to attack him, in defense of losing their other partner. Dune couldn't get away from them. He yelped and cried out to get attention, but besides a few small bitemarks, his only major wound was on his chest near his heart area. Though as Dune was about to pass out from exhaustion, a man called out and shooed the attacking dobermans away. Dune laid on the ground and looked up at him. His savior was a man named Duke. Dune couldn't understand what he was saying, as Duke spoke English. Dune had forgotten how to understand most English and only knew French. As Dune didn't have a collar on him, Duke figured he was a stray. He couldn't just leave him there, so he took the hybrid to his house to nurse him back to health.

Dune got better within a few days. He wanted to repay Duke, so he was very affectionate to him and was on his best behavior. Little did Dune know, Duke was a friend of Marianne's father, and learned how to pilot with him. But Duke didn't know Dune was his pet. Duke followed after Marianne's family, but only to visit and live there for a few years, but he was going back to Nome to live to be with his relatives. Dune met Duke around the same time he was going back to Nome. While they were there, Duke finally made the decision to call Dune his own, and bought him a fancy leather collar. The two then went back to Nome.

After a long, successful flight, they arrived in Nome. Dune was quick to adapt to this lifestyle of snow, dogs, and a quieter town. Though hearing Dune's arrival, some of his family came to greet him, excited to see him. He quickly picked up on English words again. Dune was also glad to see everyone who came to see him, but was rather disappointed upon hearing many things. Aleu had ran away from home. Saba drove a bear away from children, but also left from home. Jenna and Balto had just had another litter of 7. Sitkae and Dingo were busy with their lives.. And Kodi was too caught up in his job, that he forgot the importance of everything. The true importance of life. Dune was happy with Duke's new home, and laid by the fire with a bone to gnaw. He was comfortable, but truly sad. Because Duke was busy again. Though, he wasn't confined as before and Duke let Dune go in the daytime. After some time passed, Dune found out Duke was going against Kodi. He was very stressed and worried. He felt like he had no one to talk to, but he met a blonde dog named Dawna. Dawna comforted him and was there for him almost immediately. He appreciated and accepted the much needed comfort and she really helped him til everything settled down. When Kodi returned and Duke didn't, Dune confronted Kodi. Kodi was very happy that he won. Dune had grown to hate Kodi, and he left Nome to find Duke. Though he couldn't, as he looked in the wrong areas. He returned back to Nome and waited for him to come back. He was very glad to know his father went out to go find his human though.

Two days passed, and Balto returned with Duke along with Kodi and his team which helped them. Dune was there to greet him and help him, and he thanked Dawna for the support. He began to have feelings for her, shortly after. Dune is living with Duke still at the time. Later on, Dune became more comfortable in Nome. He even began to make friends, including a young female Krakozhian Wolfhound named Imila. They both were new to the English language, and even if they couldn't understand each other, they were able to communicate easily through motions. Dune's feelings keep strengthening for Dawna though, but he is afraid to tell her how he feels.
