Being born to Balto and Jenna's second litter, he was adopted by an older man. He was raised to protect the man, though he was often lonely since the man would be busy and wouldn't let Atticus just roam the town alone. Balto would try to visit him but the man (who often failed to recognize the hero, or didn't care), so his siblings and Jenna would have to visit him. He never really understood why the old man would shoot at Balto, seeing as he never openly expressed his distaste for wolves, but one morning when he was on the porch of his master's house, a pack of wolves attacked his master's horse. 

Atticus quickly rushed forward to help Ives, but he was too late. He was so upset by his friend's death he didn't care that the wolves had killed Ives for survival, so he blindly attacked them. It earned a scar on his face. 

Despite the irony, he held a grudge against wolves, and refused to aknowledge his father's heritage. He knows very well he has wolf blood in him, but he chose to stubbornly ignore that.

His master sold him to another man, who in turn would make him a sled dog. Atticus happily served as a lead dog after running for the sled for a year, after the older dog became too slow for them. After an accident where the ice beneath them crumbled, Atticus and a few dogs managed to escape, however, still tied together with the harnass. 

A pack of wolves came by, however instead of attacking they freed the sled dogs, a few of them ran away but Atticus was too ill to really run all the way back home, so they took him in. At first Atticus was still angry, but after living with them for awhile he came to terms with the reality at hand, and decided to stay with the wolf pack for awhile. After a year he returned home, back to Nome. Since his orignal owner had passed away since his time in the wild, he stays at Balto's boat, at least until he can find a new home.  Often he'll keep Dega company. 

After his life in the wild he became more calm, more collected. He wasn't as quick to rush into something, he prefered to think about it. However he still is impaitent, willing to vocally complain if one of his siblings is annoying. (Kodi)
