History:
Scathe was born into a family of strays. His brothers and sisters all left and traveled to different cities when they got older. Scathe went to Nome. He found a group of dogs that were already living there as strays. They offered to let him join their "pack" but he denied. He often felt more comfortable by himself.
One day he bumped into a red and white husky on his way into town. His name was Kodi. Kodi showed Scathe some of his favorite places, and Scathe showed Kodi some of his. They became great friends.
Then, one day, Kodi had the greatest idea to go into the woods and explore. Scathe, being somewhat shy, did not say anything to stop him. They wandered off into the woods together. Kodi ran ahead, eager to explore, and Scathe tagged along behind. He thought he heard a twig snap one time, but Kodi assurmed him he was just hearing things. Then it came again. Scathe remained alert until they reached a clearing. Somewhat settled down, Scathe let the twig snapping slide by.
Kodi and Scathe played in the clearing for a while. That's when the noise came again. This time, Kodi heard it too.
Suddenly a large lynx jumped out of the bushes. Kodi and Scathe ran away. Kodi, being a sled dog, ran a lot faster than Scathe did. Scathe called for Kodi to slow down but Kodi ignored him. He was too scared. The lynx caught up with Scathe and brought him to the ground. Scathe quickly rolled over and clawed the cat in the stomach. The cat recoiled and Scathe stood on his feet, ready to fight back. He looked over his shoulder, but Kodi was nowhere in sight.
Then, the feline attacked again, managing to claw the right side of Scathe's face, under his eye. (This is where he got his scar)
Scathe, angry, launched himself at the cat. He managed to rip off a chunk of it's ear. The cat yelped in pain and ran back into the trees. Tired and sore, Scathe walked back towards the town, leaving a small trail of blood as he went.
His cheek stinging, Scathe walked into town. A few humans looked at him, so Scathe kept his head low. Kodi bounded up to him and asked if he wanted to go back to the forest tomorrow if the lynx wasn't there. Scathe growled and Kodi shrunk back. Holding his head high, so Kodi could see the cuts, Scathe yelled at Kodi. Kodi hung his head, ashamed that he was too scared to help a friend.
The next day, Balto called a meeting about a dog named Kimba who wanted to start a pack in the mountains. Scathe considered it with interest. Kodi walked over to Scathe as he was thinking. Scathe glared at him. Kodi appologized in a whisper while Balto talked. Scathe however, could not forgive him. He decided he wanted to join the pack so he could escape from the town of bad memories.
That day after the meeting Scathe ran into a white husky. She blushed slightly and shrunk away. Scathe immediately fell for the young husky. He appologized and asked her if she was joining the pack. She nodded. Her name was Akita, he found out. That was when Scathe officially made up his mind. He decided he would go, and now he had two reasons as to why.
The next morning Scathe left with Kimba. He didn't say goodbye to Kodi, he didn't even tell Kodi, and he eagerly followed Akita and the pack towards a new life. Hopefully, this one would be better.
