Born in 1920, to Sigrune and Nelcina. Bandit was always stubborn and strong willed from the very beginning. He broke out of his kennel when he was just a pup and roamed the streets of Nome until his worried parents found him. His parent’s hauled freight and other goods in Nome and because of this Bandit's stubborn nature found an outlet. His parents had to retire from hauling freight due to the injuries and stress it created for them. Their son took over for them when he was old enough. When the diphtheria epidemic struck Nome, Bandit competed to be on the sled team to get the anti-toxin. He wasn't chosen to be on the team, this greatly upset Bandit who felt he had so much potential to help Nome. Bandit waited for days on the edge of Nome watching for the return of the sled team. One night he finally spotted a small light in the distance and knew the team was returning. Running back to Nome he alerted some of the dogs and they greeted Balto and the team as they returned to Nome with the medicine. Later Bandit would serve as a backup dog on for the sled team often taking his friends Lyon's place when Lyon had to take care of his adopted daughter Jenny. Bandit's stubbornness calmed as he matured and he used his strong willed nature to get his job done on time no matter the circumstances.
