Max is a sweet, kind dog. He is a husky mix, no wolf in him, and for as long as he remember he lived with his owner Cole, a young boy. Cole and Max are best friends but during busy school times Max has a lot of time to himself. He likes to wander off and play with his friends. His secret crush was Aleu, when they were pups, but now she has her own pack, too bad he was too shy to tell her how he felt.
Then one day while exploring the woods he ran into a female wolf. Being the kind nice guy he is, he introduced himself. Her name was Ana. At first Ana thought he was another wolf and greeted him, even though she could smell the human scent all over him. The spent a lot fo time together, talking about the forest and fun crazy times they've been through. Then Max mentions his owner. Ana was furious, she never trusted humans after a hunter shot her father. Max explains he is a husky mix and not a wolf but he really does like her. She refuses to accept that and runs off to her pack.
Days pass and Max misses Ana. He goes off to find her. He travels through the woods, and places he has never been before. When he finally catches her scent. He runs as fast as he can and finds her. When he does she is surronded by her pack, and they all look angry. She was caught with the smell of human on her because she was hanging around Max too much. Max gathered up every ounce of bravery he had and ran in front of his friend. He growl and the others just looked at him. Max tries to fight off the others but there is too many of them, it seems this is the end but then a loud gunshot goes off. They all freeze and the pack runs off. Cole and his father, who fired the gun, coming running to Max's side. They take Max, and Ana back to their house. Max finally gets Ana to agree not all humans are bad and she stays with Max at his home.
