At 8 weeks she was adopted by a girl named Kasey Jones, as a 12th birthday present from her parents. With them she lived a very happy life.

She was always well cared for, never neglected, and loved greatly by her family, especially Kasey. The two were inseparable. Kasey would always take her everywhere, showing Morgan off to her friends, who became jealous that Kasey could afford such a valuable, beautiful dog. There were also many other female dogs jealous of Morgan's beauty, but there were even more who Morgan befriended because of her loyalty and kindness

In 1925, Morgan heard about the diphtheria epidemic in her town. Kasey's sister, Elise, became sick and died from it. Morgan was there when the dogs returned from the serum run and she decided then that she wanted to become a sled dog, and help people just like they did. Kasey then signed her up to start training to join a sled team owned by a musher called Leonhard Seppala. On her first day with the team, she met Fritz. She instantly fell in love with him.
